johnforbes really needs to learn about how viruses kill. Few of them kill directly. Mostly they damage tissues or the immune system in some way and leave people susceptible to other illnesses.

For example, HIV didn't kill anyone. What it did was destroy the immune system and then people died from pneumonias and cancers and other common bugs that were no longer held at bay by a healthy immune system.

COVID works this way, damaging or destroying lung tissues which then make the patient susceptible to pneumonia. And even if the patient recovers from COVID, they must live the rest of their lives with permanently reduced lung capacity, or they can be more susceptible to illness in the future.

But make no mistake about it, dimwit, they died from the damage caused by COVID-19, even though they may have technically drowned in their own fluids.
