Political discussions about everything

GENEVA, July 4 (Reuters) - The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Saturday that it was discontinuing its trials of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and combination HIV drug lopinavir/ritonavir in hospitalised patients with COVID-19 after they failed to reduce mortality.

"These interim trial results show that hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir/ritonavir produce little or no reduction in the mortality of hospitalised COVID-19 patients when compared to standard of care. Solidarity trial investigators will interrupt the trials with immediate effect," the WHO said in a statement, referring to large multi-country trials that the agency is leading.

The U.N. agency said that the decision, taken on the recommendation of the trial's international steering committee, does not affect other studies where the drugs are used for non-hospitalised patients or as a prophylaxis.

Another arm of the WHO-led trial is looking at the potential effect of Gilead's antiviral drug remdesivir on COVID-19. (Reporting by Stephanie Nebehay Editing by Frances Kerry)

I don't know why Trump supporters even care about HCQ anyway.

We aren't going to need any drugs to fight Covid-19 because we heard it from Trump just four days ago that it's going to "sort of just disappear."

It's another Trump miracle. "WINNING!"

I would unload that Gilead stock immediately, johnny. They aren't going to be selling any Remdesivir this time around if Republican wishing and hoping has anything to say about it.

How much do you want to bet that Trump has his stash of remdesivir and dexamethasone down in his bunker under the WH.

And from what I remember Trump called Angela Merkel 'stupid' a woman with a PhD in quantum chemistry.

Now how delusional is that dimwit? Now he's saying that 99% percent of the COVID-19 cases are 'harmless'? I suppose his random number generator is running amok.

I would bet than the personal physician for any president would have a wide variety of medicine available, eh?

As to Merkel, she is a fascinating case -- obviously bright, but her decisions on many issues could only be described as idealistic to the point of naivete.

Even long ago when I lived in Germany and Austria, there was talk of Europe needing more vibrant demographics, but to accomplish that Merkel and others brought in a bunch of Islamic immigrants who hated Europe, didn't accept its culture, and lived on welfare and spent their time seekinig to undermine Euro traditional culture.

So the upshot was that, despite her high IQ, she displayed a low IQ in actual "leadership."

Other than Hitler, has any other German pollitician so thoroughly ruined that country?
