Political discussions about everything

In several emails, Fauci asks Cheryl Mills (Hillary's staffer) to convey to Hillary his admiration and (his word) "love."

He also signs it "Tony" with "warm regards" and such.

Is he just a sycophant or a real Hillary admirer?

Perhaps Fauci felt that Hillary would win (as most polls showed) and he wanted to suck up and get some cabinet job?

As to Birx, I sorta like her but it was disconcerting that her hubby worked for the Clintons.

Anyhow, what I want from both of them is just the science, and then politicians will decide the reopening pace and area.

I was just reading an economist for one of the outfits I invest with, and he said the economy had to at least partly reopen in May.

Good Lawd Johnnie.....

Trump spent months downplaying the treat of COVID-19 becuase it would be in his political self interest in the short term.

Then he finally realized that it was in his best interest to take the longer term view because downplaying the virus would damage him politically. And it's ironic becuase if Trump took the threat more seriously to begin with in the first place and implemented more aggressive measures to contain the virus more sooner then we would have been in the clear much sooner He would have taken a hit in popularity and the economy as well in the short run but it would have increased the chances the virus could have been tamed by the early summer and then the economy could start to rebound by the fall when everybody hits the polls in November.

It is human nature to downplay that at the outset.

Obama, Clinton, Cuomo, deBlasio all did the same thing.

The key point was that Trump closed off China, and was attacked by the Left for it.

The health metrics folks just downgraded their death projection from 240k to 60k by Aug 1, so it looks like the actual death toll will be no more than a bad flu season.

(And yes, those models factored in distancing and masks.)

So johnforbes is saying all those Democrat governors and mayors are doing a great job! Wow.

RealTool will be very unhappy that his own Democrat governor came out early with effective responses to the pandemic way ahead of the Trump Administration's lackadaisical response. He won't be able to laugh at dead people anymore.

What I said was that it is human nature to first downplay a crisis, and you can find many, many examples to prove that.

In a perfect world, Cuomo and deBlasio would have reacted more rapidly, but they are not doctors.

Also, Fauci and Birx were egregiously wrong too.

They accepted the Imperial College model of 2.2 million American deaths as a rationale for this lockdown.

Now Fauci accepts the IHME model of 60k deaths in US.

But 17 million are now unemployed because Fauci and Birx had little in the way of common sense.

If coronavirus gives 60k deaths in toto, it'll be less than the 80k in 2017-18 but with 17 million unemployed.

Johnnie have you ever bothered to reconcile why Cuomo's approval ratings are sky high and Trump's are in the trash heap?

Cuomo told it how it was and Trump was peddling nothing more than pollyannish bullshit.

Cuomo was like the doctor who had to deliver a grim diagnosis to a patient. People respect someone who can level with them. And apparently Trump just can't stop making an ass out of himself. The guy seems to gobble up all of the oxygen. Now he's talking about re-opening the economy and how it will be the biggest decision of his presidency. However that's more steaming bullshit...becuase that decision will be made at the state level not by Trump.

None of that happens to be true.

The fed govt will take the lead.

Yes, Democrats and media outlets will condemn Trump for whatever he does or doesn't do.

The one place I do agree is that, for Dems, Cuomo would be a far better candidate than the senile hair-sniffing fool Biden.

Not at all, Snake.

I'd prefer that the two main doctors, Fauci and Birx, have ZERO POLITICAL CONNECTIONS OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER.

Alas, in DC, everybody knows everybody, and Fauci repeatedly emailed his admiration and "love" of Hillary to Cheryl Mills, Hillary's chief of staff.

The husband of Birx was an advance man for the Clintons.

This strongly suggests both have pro-Democrat sympathy.

Again, I would prefer ZERO POLITICAL CONNECTIONS OF ANY KIND FOR THESE DOCTORS.
#123949
Yes, johnny, you can "PREFER" anything you like, but the rest of us live in the real world where no doctor is without any political opinion.

That's what makes the science that you and Trump ignore so important. Science doesn't care what your silly opinion is. It deals in facts.
#123950
Come on, Clown, even I have more respect for your intellect than that.

Obviously, doctors have opinions.

But the main doctor advising Trump repeatedly sent emails to Cheryl Mills (who herself told the FBI under oath she didn't know about the private server when it later turned out she did) saying he admired Hillary and sent "love."

Plenty of doctors don't have an obvious trail of email expressing their political opinions.

You get this point and probably even agree with it.

Imagine if Fauci had sent email indicating his admiration and "love" of Trump how quickly the Left would attack him.
