How many millions of taxpayer money did Trump waste?

"Surprise, Surprise: The DOJ’s Hillary Clinton Investigation Has Been a Bust

After more than two years, an inquiry into the Clinton Foundation and Clinton’s tenure at State is nearly done—and there’s reportedly absolutely nothing to show for it.

Back in 2017, buoyed by President Donald Trump’s calls for investigations into “Crooked Hillary & the Dems,” the Justice Department launched an inquiry into Hillary Clinton and Republicans' pet conspiracy theories about her and her career. Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions asked U.S. Attorney John Huber to look into concerns that the FBI hadn't fully pursued cases related to the Clinton Foundation, as well as Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, including the baseless “Uranium One” conspiracy theory championed by conservatives. Now, Huber is finally almost finished with his much-vaunted Clinton investigation—and, unsurprisingly, there isn't really anything to show for it.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that after continuing on for more than two years, Huber's investigation “has effectively ended with no tangible results.” After combing through documents and conferring with federal law enforcement officials looking into the Clinton Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Post reports that Huber has “found nothing worth pursuing,” let alone any criminal charges. The U.S. attorney has not yet officially reported any results to the Justice Department, however, and the inquiry is technically still ongoing. But officials cited by the Post say that Huber's years-long investigation has by this point “largely finished”—and with nothing to show for it.

Despite Republicans' long insistence on Clinton's wrongdoing—and Trump's favorite “lock her up” rallying cry—the fact that the Huber investigation has reportedly been a bust doesn't seem to come as much surprise to those inside the Justice Department itself. Senior Justice officials cited by the Post said that the investigation had largely been viewed as little more than a way to appease Trump and his Republican allies, and officials expected the inquiry was “unlikely to lead to anything of significance.” “We didn’t expect much of it, and neither did [Huber],” one source told the Post. “And as time went on, a lot of people just forgot about it.”

The news of the DOJ's fruitless investigation comes just a few months after the State Department completed its own investigation into Clinton's emails and use of a private server, which found that while 38 individuals did commit 91 security violations in emails sent to or from the private server, ultimately the server largely wasn't used for transmitting classified information. “While there were some instances of classified information being inappropriately introduced into an unclassified system in furtherance of expedience, by and large, the individuals interviewed were aware of security policies and did their best to implement them in their operations,” a report on the investigation said. “There was no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information.” Of course, Clinton being cleared of wrongdoing by Trump's own executive branch isn't about to stop the president from bashing Hillary nonetheless. (Never mind the fact that six of Trump's own associates have been convicted of crimes, or that private email use has reportedly been rampant throughout the Trump administration.) Less than an hour after the Post report came out, Trump was back on the campaign trail attacking Hillary, repeating his favorite 2016 talking points to a crowd of supporters—Clinton's innocence be damned. “Crooked Hillary—you should lock her up, I'll tell you,” Trump told supporters."-Vanity Fair

Meanwhile, it looks like Trump's ole pal "Lock her up" Flynn could be facing jail time for his failure to cooperate and for sabotaging another prosecution.

Liberals aren't against investigations, dimwit. They just want them to be about criminal behavior.

Trump keeps wasting money on the Clintons and his own people can't seem to find a thing on them. Meanwhile, his henchmen are going to jail and Trump is going to trial.

Now, the real question is, why are conservatives so against investigations? They won't even allow witnesses to testify to crimes. McConnell should go back and play the tapes of himself from 1999 when he said witnesses should absolutely be heard in an impeachment trial.

You didn't know that about your lying guy, did you?

Clown, come on.

There was nothing even slightly wrong with Trump's call to Ukraine, and it even drew attention to real corruption by the Bidens, and Democrats still wanted to impeach Trump.

The two years of the Mueller probe were totally partisan because 18 Democrat lawyers on his staff KNEW the dossier was fake even BEFORE the probe began.

johnny, come on.

Try to stay on topic. No one mentioned the Ukraine call. Bringing it up is merely your diversion from the failure of the Trump Administration to find anything against Hillary. It is also embarrassing to your phony point because Mueller found nine cases of Trump obstruction of justice that he left to Congress to pursue. Uncovering Trump's crimes was a good use of the money Mueller spent.

I explained the Uranium One deal to you years ago but you insisted she had done something wrong. Well, now the Trump Administration has told you she did nothing wrong but you will undoubtedly still be parroting that debunked party line tomorrow.

And the Trump Administration couldn't find anything substantially wrong with Hillary's email server either. Meanwhile, Trump's people are doing much more on private servers and unsecured systems than Hillary's people ever did, but you haven't said a thing about that, which tells us all that you don't actually give a damn about private servers and unsecured communications. It's just more of your partisan hypocrisy.

First, nothing can be concluded based on a partisan leak machine such as the Washington Post.

Secondly, the Uranium One deal richly (ahem) deserved to be investigated, and that is a distinct conclusion from saying what that inquiry should show.

Third, Hillary broke 18 USC 793 with her email, and that simply cannot be argued. She did, and she was permitted to get away with it for partisan reasons.

As to the Clinton Foundation, it certainly should have been investigated as a pay to play, although I and others here have not looked at its books.

"First, nothing can be concluded based on a partisan leak machine such as the Washington Post."-johnflubs

First, feel free to go to one of your unbiased sources and prove them wrong on anything they reported about this. You can't.

"Secondly, the Uranium One deal richly (ahem) deserved to be investigated, and that is a distinct conclusion from saying what that inquiry should show."-johnfoibles

Secondly, the Uranium One deal WAS investigated by the Trump Justice Department and they came up with bupkis, which proves that the deal DIDN'T actually deserve to be investigated. You saying it did is just your partisan bias despite the facts as told to you by the Trump Justice Department.

"As to the Clinton Foundation, it certainly should have been investigated as a pay to play, although I and others here have not looked at its books."-johnflubs

And it WAS investigated by Trump and nothing came of it. But even when the report is made official by the Trump Administration saying there is nothing there, will you change your tune? Of course you won't. Even Trump telling you you're wrong is not enough to change your mind about ANYTHING if it disagrees with your pathological hatred of anything "Clinton."

Justice Department spokesperson Kerri Kupec made a rare statement concerning an ongoing DOJ investigation. She cautioned that the public should not rely on information being reported by the media concerning the Clinton Foundation investigation. When asked if they had found evidence of wrong doings, she replied that the DOJ does not discuss specifics concerning ongoing criminal investigation.

Explains why Hillary has been celebrating the fake news being put out.

No, I'm saying "It never ceases to amaze me to see johnforbes regularly call the Trump Justice Department incompetent."

If you can't comprehend the meaning of that sentence, then fer gawds sake sign up for the ESL classes already.

What's the hold up? Save us all a lot of misery regularly explaining simple English to you.

Clown, a good chunk of every department remains and is not affected by transitory politicians.

Nobody can deny that Hillary violated 18 USC 793. She did, and everybody knew it and knows it today.

She was allowed to violate that, and skate free, because she was an important politician.

That might have even been true were she a Repub.

But she did break the law, and everybody knows it, and that is why she deleted 33,000 emails under subpoena and then BleachBit-ed the server just to make certain they could not be used as evidence.

Honest people don't do that.

So now you're calling Sessions and Barr "remains"? They are biased toward Hillary?

Like I said, you continue to call the Trump Justice Department incompetent.

Well, either that or your saying they are corrupt. I guess either is believable.

johnny, even if all your bullshit about the Bidens were true, what does any of that have to do with what Trump did or didn't do?

"...Biden was point man for Obama on Ukraine and a couple other areas."-johnflubs
This has nothing to do with Trump's criminal behavior. Trump was not investigating Obama. Neither is the Senate.

There was a "quid" --military aid-- you admit that yourself. Everyone admits that. Even Trump admits that.

There was a "quo"--for personal political gain against the interests of the United States-- an investigation into the Bidens, not into broader corruption. Witnesses will corroborate that fact to the Senate.

"Both Bidens would be totally relevant on this, particularly with regard to the VP's son going on Air Force 2 to Ukraine and then getting 83,000 per month in money from Burisma."-johnflubs

Half the people on corporate boards in America know nothing about the business of the companies they are overseeing. They are there for their political contacts and lobbying ability. You hold stock in many of them and you don't want any of them investigated for Presidential conduct. There is nothing illegal about having ignorant officers on corporate boards.

Stick to relevant witnesses, johnny. Republican diversions will not fly in this trial.
Regardless, the Bidens didn't witness any of Trump's behavior. It is absurd to call them to testify as to Trumps behavior.
Any lawyer knows that.

johnforbes doesn't actually BELIEVE Zelensky felt no "pressure". Even johnforbes isn't so stupid that he doesn't understand that no newly elected national president is going to admit on global television that he's susceptible to pressure and afraid for his country's security.

Of course he's going to posture and act like he will stand up to the U.S. President when EVERYONE IN THE WORLD already knows full well that he can't and won't.
#122026
^^^^^^ See? When you rub johnforbes' nose in his purely partisan dishonesty, he always resorts to pretending he didn't understand that he was caught in a lie.

He actually convinces himself that nobody noticed his humiliation.

Such ubiquitous self-deception is the only thing that allows conservatives to get out of bed every day to endurer another 24 hours of their farcical existence.

Pelosi, Kerry, Mitt, and Biden all have relatives on energy boards in Ukraine raking in the dough.

I don't speak the language, and the only thing I know about energy is how to put gas in a car, so I therefore declare my eligibility to serve on a Ukraine energy board company.

I will do so for a mere $83,000 per month.
