Political discussions about everything

johnforbes, who wants to be partisanly dishonest about everything he posts, is now pretending that statues in our own country erected to commemorate racism and which we have every right to remove from the town square and move into appropriate historical museums, is somehow the same thing as preserving temples and statues that have historical importance to every human being on the planet.

Sure, johnny, it's exactly the same thing, you dishonest partisan hack. That you honestly don't see a difference between them is nothing but an indictment of the inadequate education you clearly squandered.

As I said, johnforbes consistently chooses the phony partisan talking points over reality and facts.

johnforbes tries to make the statues monuments to states' rights, and they were in as much as the states' rights being fought for was the right to own slaves. For dimwits like johnforbes, slavery of blacks by whites is racist.

And don't take my word for it. Look at the primary historical documents of the states that seceded from the union.

In them they tell you just how many of them specifically stated that their main reason for seceding was their insistence on keeping slavery legal.

The bulk of these statues were raised in the 20th century, decades after the events commemorated, in order to help racist white organizations perpetuate Jim Crow in the southern states. I am not surprised that johnforbes wants to commemorate such racism as his right, but the the rest of the country wants to remove that portion of offensive American 'culture' from the town squares and move it to historical museums where it belongs.

Construing them as honoring racism is perfectly reasonable and honest. dishonestjohnforbes is not.

History doesn't consist of things you agree with, or I agree with.

It consists of what it consists of, and tearing down statues in the South is the very same thing as the Taliban destroying the past.

Democrats support destroying the past unless they happen to concur with it, and today Jefferson's casa is almost as much about Sally Hemmings as his genius.

So Democrats do favor destroying cultural sites as long as they don't comport with leftist ideology.

No one "tore down" any statues, johnny. They were removed to storage. And most were done through decisions of the city governments they were in. If you have the right to put them up in your town, then you have the right to move them elsewhere.

And that absolutely is NOT the same as blowing up statues that no longer exist. What is wrong with you?
You really need to learn the difference between an intact museum exhibit for educational purposes and a pile of sand.

If johnforbes had his way, all the swastika-covered buildings in Germany and Austria would have been preserved in all thier glory for their cultural importance and the ovens of Auschwitz would be in functioning order to better allow johnforbes and his friends to meditate on an idyllic conservative world that almost was.

The world conservatives dream of is really, truly revolting.

No, there was instance after instance where statues were simply torn down by mobs.

Or taken down by leftists in the middle of the night, with bureaucrats doing nothing to prosecute later.

History doesn't consist of what I agree with, or like, or don't like. It is history.

The Left in America has been doing, and celebrating, the very same cultural destruction as the Taliban did.
