Political discussions about everything

Iran. Obama gave Iran 180 billion dollars, freed their top nuclear scientist from prison and removed sanctions and America got nothing in return.

Oh wait, you didn't ask what America got, you asked what the President got. Obama got to "claim" he got Iran to sign a nuclear agreement and no other President had been able to do it.

Yep, even if we set aside recent politicians such as Obama and Trump, isn't it true that every foreign policy discussion ever has involved negotiating about getting something and giving something?

If you go into a store to buy a can of soda pop, you give something in the hope of getting something.

The Department of State exists for the purpose of making foreign policy deals, and the president is the chief architect of foreign policy -- not some unelected bureaucrat like Vindman.

Of course, it would appear that Vindman was also seeking a job as Ukraine's Secretary of Defense or Sec of State, and he was THREE TIMES offered such a job.

Notice how johnforbes is now backpedaling from his previous dutiful regurgitation of his handlers' talking point that there was "no quid and no quo"? Now it is undeniable that there was indeed both a quid and a quo. We heard it from Trump's own staff.

So, in an attempt to let Trump off the hook for doing what naive johnforbes now knows Trump did, johnny is pretending that EVERY quid pro quo, including Trump's, is just fine. Unfortunately, the law says otherwise.

Nobody has ever disputed that quid pro quos are common tactics and valuable in diplomacy when used to further our national interests. But nobody but Republicans now insist the EVERY quid pro quo is acceptable, completely disregarding the laws about abuse of power for personal gain while simultaneously harming our national interests. This is because abuse of power for personal gain is standard operating procedure for Republicans. Our national interests don't interest them. They see nothing wrong with it. To them it's just how things are done.

"Of course, it would appear that Vindman was also seeking a job as Ukraine's Secretary of Defense or Sec of State..."-johnfibs

Once again johforbes resorts to blatant lies to smear a decorated member of our military. It's what Republicans do.
There is no evidence whatsoever that Vindman was seeking such a job in Ukraine. NONE. It's just more partisan made up stupid shit. And yet johhnforbes has no problem repeating the lie from his handlers.

Why do Republicans always turn on our military like this?
#120876
Oh please, I was a member of the military, so my support for them generally goes without saying.

However, I'm quite prepared to examine the behavior of a fellow beyond his chest salad.

Vindman was thrice offered a defense/state type job by Ukraine, and that is NOT typical for a serving soldier to get such offers.

It certainly seems like Vindman was some sort of egomaniac who felt that his opinion should -- ahem -- trump the opinion of Trump on foreign policy.
#120879
No, what you said about Vindman was NOT true, johnny.

"Of course, it would appear that Vindman was also seeking a job as Ukraine's Secretary of Defense or Sec of State..."-johnfibs

It doesn't "appear that" at all johnny. Only partisan tools see that but have no evidence for what they believe. They never do. They simply swallow any bile their handlers feed them without question.

Produce some evidence that your dishonest 'observation' is true or stop repeating your partisan lie, johnny.

Vets, which I am one, call Vindman out for what he is...a douche bag. We all met officers and enlisted like him, who felt their positions made them Gods. He was nothing but a mid level Officer who after 22 years of service was stuck at LTC and pushed into a staff job because his chain of command didn't want him leading troops.

It will come out, he leaked classified information and lied about what he heard to the whistleblower to try and damage a President who dared to set policy in Ukraine without going through him. Remember both he and Schiff have testified they don't know who the whistleblower is...well the Senate is about to do a real investigation and Republicans will have control of the hearings.

Pelosi has to be laying awake at night kicking herself for listening to Schiff thinking his scheme would work.

"well the Senate is about to do a real investigation and Republicans will have control of the hearings. "-RealTool

So what difference will that make, Tool? They aren't going to call any witnesses to testify because there will be no Trump Administration people showing up to be questioned by Democrats and we have already heard from those who witnessed the Trump call and are willing to talk about it.

Vindman was three times offered that Ukraine cabinet job, and no doubt because he was so passionate about getting the billion in aid.

Vindman also said he was "never partisan," but he registered to vote in 3 different locales as a Democrat, and he was clearly trying to substitute his own opinions for Trump's.

But nobody voted for Vindman.

Does anybody know how petty an O-5 is at the Pentagon?

Sounds like he was really only helping with translation, but wanted more.

See?^^^^^

He'll dutifully regurgitate his partisan talking points but refuses to provide any evidence to support his lie, just as I predicted.

He actually thinks that another military smear job refutes the facts of what Trump did. Notice that nothing johnny said about Vindman is criminal or even wrong. Imagine that, someone with career ambition in our military. That's outrageous! They should all be mindless sheep, like our johnforbes.

Tool, if sillydimwit knew Ukraine is not part of Russia, he wouldn't have said what he did, would he. It makes no sense.

"Reports say Urraine[sic] has bee[sic] seeking his counsel on how to deal with the US...
Obviously they trust him...Why?
because he has the heart and soul of a Russian..!"-sillydumbfuck

Why would anyone who knows Ukraine and Russia hate each other post something a idiotic as what sillydummy posted, Tool? Why would Ukraine seek counsel from someone they see as a Russian at heart?

I didn't make it up, dummy. I simply read English and grasp its implications while you don't.
ESL classes, Tool, I can't stress them enough for your level of gross ignorance.

silly, most of us aren't sexually attracted to the burly sort of manly breeding stock johnforbes likes. The rest of us prefer a more feminine type.

But I admire johnforbes for throwing off the shackles of conventional sexuality and finding a way to cope with his repressed feelings in a manner that allows him to keep his closeted illusions without harming others. A woman who is sufficiently masculine is apparently sufficient for him to maintain his lifelong denial.

And silly, let's be accurate. When it comes to you and johnforbes, I always see the glass as being entirely empty.
