Political discussions about everything

So Sondland first went out and tried to appease Trump....then he finally figured out it's all fun and games until he realized that going to prison isn't worth....then he goes and rats out Trump's sleazy Ukraine shakedown scheme.

I think I just heard some hammering sound?

OH wait...it's another nail in Trump's impeachment coffin.

Sondland reverses himself on Ukraine, confirming quid pro quo

A key figure in the Ukraine saga revised his testimony for impeachment investigators.

Gordon Sondland, a key witness in the impeachment inquiry, revealed that he told a top Ukrainian official that hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid would “likely” be held up unless the country’s government announced investigations into President Donald Trump’s political rivals — a major reversal from his previous closed-door testimony.

The acknowledgment of a quid pro quo is an explosive shift that threatens to upend claims by the president’s allies that military aid was not used as a bludgeon to advance his domestic political interests.

In his revised testimony, released Tuesday by House impeachment investigators, Sondland said that during a Sept. 1 meeting in Warsaw, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky raised his concerns directly to Vice President Mike Pence about the suspension of military aid.

Sondland, Trump’s ambassador to the European Union, added that he later told Andriy Yermak, a top Ukrainian national security adviser, that the aid would be contingent on Trump’s desired investigations.

“After that large meeting, I now recall speaking individually with Mr. Yermak, where I said that resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti-corruption statement that we had been discussing for many weeks,” Sondland wrote in his addendum, which was released on Tuesday alongside a nearly 400-page transcript of his testimony.

Sondland revealed the exchange in supplemental testimony he submitted to House impeachment investigators on Monday, saying he had failed to recall the episode when he testified in person last month. Sondland, who had a direct line to Trump and was a major donor to his 2016 presidential campaign, had previously indicated he was not aware of any effort to connect military aid to Trump’s demand for politically motivated investigations.

That sound is more like the coffin lid shutting on November 2020 for Dems.

Joe Biden actually did do a quid quo pro re Ukraine, but Trump's phone call is rather clear that no such thing transpired.

Gordon Sondland, a key witness ….
Oh, So he was lying BEFORE, But not now, eh!
In any court room across this great land...
a first year intern lawyer would wipe the floor with this guy's testimony..!
That's why the Demos are in such a big hurry to finish up wit h their closed hearings.....
They want to weed out all the Sondlands ahead of the public hearings...
By then the Demos want to have all their ducks in a row singing on cue,
like a well rehearsed choirboys...!!!

Schiff, this fellow, and the so-called "whistleblower" could -- and should -- appear in public, under oath, and be cross-examined.

If they are not liars, they will be willing to do that.

Are they willing?

If they are not liars, Trump and the Republicans will destroy their lives, and you know it, johnny.

The whistleblower is irrelevant. He is not the one who will be accusing Trump. Trump will be accused by the House of Representatives and all the direct witnesses to his wrongdoing. And Trump will be free to show up and face his accusers to his heart's content.

"What I can tell you about the Trump policy toward Ukraine: It was incoherent, it depends on who you talk to, they seem to be incapable of forming a quid pro quo."-Lindsey Graham outside the Senate Judiciary Committee

That's how desperate the Republicans are now. They're actually resorting to the old "He couldn't have committed these crimes, he's too stupid." defense.

If you want to undo a national election, that is sedition.

There is a truckload of evidence of an attempt by partisan Democrats to undo the 2016 election.

Schiff and Eric Ciamarella have nothing whatever to fear if they simply tell the truth, and explain what happened, explain Eric's work with the DNC to dig up dirt on Trump, explain why he worked with Schiff's staff, explain why he was one of the originators of the Russia collusion baloney, and simply tell the truth under oath and be subject to cross-examination.

The truth is a total defense.

Will they be willing to tell the truth in the sunlight?

johnny, they don't NEED any "defense". They aren't in any trouble.

The whistleblower has nothing to hide, but then he is irrelevant so Republicans and Trump trying to distract with irrelevancies is a desperate ploy to point fingers away from Trump's crimes.

If your argument is to be considered serious, then Trump should go before the committees and be questioned. After all, "the truth is a total defense." It's just like last time when he refused to appear and only answered questions in writing. Now Trump is saying answering questions in writing isn't good enough, just as you now conveniently and hypocritically believe about anyone besides Trump.

So why do I think you will now try to weasel out of your dishonest argument about the truth being a total defense when it applies to Trump?

These people, like Schiff and Eric C, were seeking to overthrow the elected president, so they won't -- and can't -- testify under oath and be cross-examined.

That is what makes the notion of a subpoena so amusing.

They simply cannot come out into the sunshine and speak openly and honestly, nor can they answer critical questions.

See? johnny has no way to attack the evidence against Trump, so he desperately tries to distract from it with irrelevancies.

Trump simply cannot come out into the sunshine and speak openly and honestly, nor can he answer critical questions.
