Political discussions about everything

@thehill

President Trump: "The Continental Army suffered a bitter winner at Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown. Our Army manned the air, it ran the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do."

OK folks now don't you remember when the whole planet trembled with shock and awe because Trump had a few football game flyovers and wheeled in a few tanks on the 4th to demonstrate our nation's great military might?

Nope...me neither... but I do remember when the waterlogged pumpkin-headed gasbag blabbered on mindlessly about 18th century airports and jaws dropped at Trump's nonsensical stupidity............

I can't wait until the next 4th of July.

The next thing you know....Trump will claim that his space force tilted the outcome of the civil war.

LMFAO!

Biden said that FDR gave his fireside chats on TV.

To list all of Barry "Affirmative Action" O's mistakes would take an eternity.

Of course.....how could anyone know there were no airports in 1776 if their teleprompter wasn't working?

@realDonaldTrump
Why does @BarackObama always have to rely on teleprompters?
2:39 PM - Mar 19, 2012

@realDonaldTrump
Hillary said such nasty things about me, read directly off her teleprompter...but there was no emotion, no truth. Just can't read speeches!

Elkin, if you read Shelley's poem "Ozymandias," you will realize it was about not merely giant statues, but also the primitive airports developed hundreds of years ago.
By elklindo69
#117511
Yeah Johnnie...if you watch the Flintstones...they had airports as well.

So what's your point? Or are you trying to distract from Trump's inability to read from a teleprompter?
By elklindo69

“I’ve always said, if you run for president, you shouldn’t be allowed to use teleprompters,” Trump said in 2016, according to Politico. “Because you don’t even know if the guy is smart.”

“I say we should outlaw teleprompters,” he said in a 2015 campaign speech.

And yet you ridicule Biden and Obama for the things they said but make excuses for Trump for the stupid things he says.

That's why you get no respect, johnny. You're nothing more than another partisan hypocrite.

Internet respect, now there's a beast more rare than the snow leopard.

Kidding aside, I'm opposed to dumb remarks from politicians of any stripe, but it is preposterous to suggest that Biden and Obama don't have a long litany of dumb remarks.

They do.

I live in the real world, not the fantasy land of partisan hatred where the modern Left resides.

Trump can do two things to earn my vote -- try to secure the southern border against the Democrats who want it open to gain more Dem voters, and try to stimulate the economy to achieve more prosperity for all.

Unemployment is at a half-century low, and Hispanics and blacks have never had more job opportunity than under Trump.

But you DO live in a fantasy world, johnny.

Trump is doing just the opposite of what you pretend to want. He is systematically destroying the best global economy in 50 years with his trade wars and tariffs. He is also adding to the national debt faster than any President before him because of his foolish tax cuts that did nothing to stimulate the economy. And now there is no money to spend on infrastructure, which would have REALLY helped the economy and America.

Debt should only be taken on in troubled times and paid down in good times. And infrastructure investment should be done in good times as well. Trump and the Republicans are doing the opposite of that. And not only don't criticize them for it, you applaud them for it.

Listen to yourself, johnny-- Trump needs to "secure the southern border against the Democrats"? I thought Trump and Republicans have been saying we need to secure the border against illegal immigrants.
You accidentally let the truth of the Republican agenda slip out, that you see yourselves as trying to defend against your fellow Americans. In other words, division isn't just rhetorical to you. It's you objective and your policy.

Now we see who actually hates America.

Your remarks are colder than the exit from the Chosin Reservoir.

I do listen to myself, and the tones are dulcet.

Trump's economic nationalism is anti-globalist, but the globalists like Merkel have almost destroyed Western Europe, and are working their socio-cultural harm on Canada, Australia, NZ, and so on.

Trump is spending like a drunken sailor and the national debt is sky rocketing.

Where's the tea party when you need them........
By johnforbes

Well, I was at this restaurant last night and ordered my usual unsweetened iced tea and it was great.

One might even say it was a tea party.

Of course, I had grounds to say that.

So Johnnie....I suppose during your tea party....you and your fellow teabaggers celebrated Trump's paying down of the national debt.

I wish the debt happened to be headed down, believe me.

However, Democrats were in solidarity with Obama as he doubted it, adding 9 trillion, and adding more than all prior presidents combined.

That said, debt matters regardless of party and I'd like more tax cuts to stimulate economic growth to increase tax revenues to lower the debt.

Which is the precise position JFK took.

I wish the debt happened to be headed down, believe me.

However, Republicans are mysteriously in solidarity with Trump as he added record amounts to the debt through ineffective tax cuts, adding more per year to it than any prior president including Obama.

That said, debt matters regardless of party and I'd like Republicans to wake up and realize that more tax cuts to stimulate economic growth will not work when the money goes solely to rich individuals and rich corporations who, as we have seen yet again, don't spend it to increase tax revenues to lower the debt. It is just another case of failed trickle down economics, leaving nothing for desperately needed infrastructure repairs.

Which is not at all the position JFK took in entirely different economic circumstances.
By johnforbes

The debt matters, and that is true regardless of partisanship.

But tax cuts do stimulate economic growth to increase tax revenues to lower the debt.

We are at unremployment levels not seen in 51 years.

Unemployment for blacks and Hispanics (the Dem base) are at historic lows, and Dems hate that because they need those groups mad so they vote Dem.

The debt matters, and that is true regardless of partisanship.

But unfortunately, the Trump tax cuts DIDN'T stimulate economic growth to increase tax revenues to lower the debt. At first Trump promised his tax cuts would produce 6% growth, but then he reduced that promise to 4% growth, which still didn't materialize. Instead, the growth in the GDP under Trump is indistinguishable from that under Obama. Even johnforbes doesn't dispute this fact.

We are at unemployment levels not seen in 51 years, which was only a continuation of the employment track under Obama. Even johnforbes doesn't dispute this fact. The tax cuts did not alter its trajectory at all. So it seems you can thank Obama, not the Trump tax cuts.

Unemployment for blacks and Hispanics (the Dem base) are at historic lows, and Dems are fine with that because they need those groups and they will get them regardless because all other Republican policies are so terrible.

Oh, come, such partisan spin is unavailing.

Tax cuts and regulatory cuts produced the Trump-era gains.

By the logic that it started earlier (which is not logical), then George Washington would get credit for the historic low unemployment for blacks and Hispanics.
By Clownkicker
#117781
Oh, come, such partisan spin is unavailing.

There is no evidence whatsoever that the tax cuts produced any growth whatsoever since the Trump-era gains are virtually identical to the Obama-era gains. There was no spike in either growth or tax revenues.

Obama was handed a global recession. Trump was handed the best global economy in 50 years, Yet all he has managed to produce are Obama-era GDP and revenue numbers.

By the logic that it didn't start earlier (which is not logical), then some evidence of greater growth would have showed up by now. But it hasn't.

Under Trump tax cuts have lowered tax revenues and increased the debt.

It takes a while to unfold, so it is too early to judge.

But, unlike Dems who loved it while Obama DOUBLED the debt, I would note that debt matters regardless of party.

Cutting taxes to increase growth to increase tax revenue, that works, as both JFK and Reagan knew.
