Israel is keenly aware that if Obama wins the up coming election, he will not support Israel in a war with Iran with anything other than rhetoric. Therefore if it appears through polls, that Obama will win the up coming election, Israel will be "forced" to strike Iran prior to the elections. They will have to do so in Oct to expose Obama's intentions prior the Nov elections.

Israel striking Iran prior to the elections will put Obama in a position where he has to chose between Iran and Israel, Americans voters will be watching, not coming out clearly supporting Israel over Iran in the conflict with action rather than just rhetoric would cost Obama the election. After the election Obama doesn't care what Americans think.
