"It is true no Democrat called for open borders, but that is clearly the intent, isn't it?"-johnforbes
No. It isn't "clearly the intent" You're making it up.
"Dems oppose EVERY attempt to secure the border, don't they?"-johnforbes
No. The House Democrats just passed a bill to to give billions of dollars to border security, the same bill Republicans passed in the Senate, so it couldn't possibly be "EVERY" attempt, could it? Try to stick to facts when you are say you want a "serious discussion."
"And Dems oppose photo ID, eh?"-johnforbes
No, they don't. I've not heard a single Democrat say they want to do away with photo IDs. You're making it up.
What they oppose are laws to make it more difficult for poor people to vote. For many poor people, getting a photo ID can be a problem. For example, to get a driver license, you need an address. If you are homeless, you don't have one. (Not to mention the $50 or whatever the license costs.)
Or if you are homebound, you can't easily get a driver license or other photo ID. But Republicans want this as a requirement because they know that overwhelmingly poor people vote Democrat. And that is the only reason they want it.
The proof is, there is not a large voter fraud problem. No Republicans can ever manage to find more than an anecdotal case here or there that could be solved without a voter ID or wasn't caused by the lack of a photo ID in the first place. Like cases where one family member votes another family member's mail-in or absentee ballot. ID has nothing to do with it.
"Seriously, isn't it very clear Democrats want more illegals here?"-johnforbes
No. It isn't clear to me. I think it's an absurd statement, to tell the truth. You say it is clear to you. It's just a matter of opinion until you have some evidence, johnny.
Besides, it's Republicans who want a larger labor force to drive down wages. Farmers and meat processors couldn't survive without them. Americans won't do those jobs for the wages they pay. You're eating food provided by illegals every day. But do you refuse to eat only food from legal workers? No. Do you insist on getting more H-2A or H-2B visas issued so that many illegals could become legal? No.
I've heard the statistic that there are a million unemployed Americans now. And there are supposedly 5 million jobs that employers can't fill. If you deported 5 million illegals tomorrow, that would mean there would be millions more jobs that would be vacant that you couldn't fill even if every American were employed. That would stop or reverse economic growth in this country. There isn't a single Republican in Congress that would actually support a plausible plan to deport them even if they had a magic wand that could do it tomorrow. What this means is your plaint is simply partisan rhetoric dog whistles to the dimwitted. Get real.
