MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's newly inaugurated president hit the ground running Monday with his pledge to govern as a common man and end decades of secrecy, heavy security and luxury enjoyed by past presidents.

Lopez Obrador arrived at Mexico City's National Palace in the same white compact car he used before taking office Saturday. Lopez Obrador refused the military bodyguards used by past presidents and travels with a small staff of aides who provide security. He usually travels tourist class.

The dude says he's going to clean up Mexico's corruption and crime but refuses armed security...tick tock, tick tock!!!

Mexico's new President, Lopez Obrado has offered a six-year security blueprint that criticizes drug prohibition as both ineffective and arbitrary. The new president has already proposed legislation to decriminalize and regulate the use of marijuana and certain other drugs.

During the campaign,he outlined plans to reduce jail time for some crimes and release thousands of prisoners.
He's strategy leans heavily on “transitional justice,” which often involves leniency for those who admit guilt, truth commissions to investigate atrocities and the granting of reparations.

He'll still end up pissing off some wacko, with over 200,000 murders in Mexico in the last 12 years, he's not safe without the military guards he had taken off of his security detail. Pass the popcorn, tick tock, tick tock...
