Look, Manafort should have registered (like many others) as a foreign agent but didn't.

Why is he in trouble, but his partner Podesta doing the same thing isn't?

It is because Mueller couldn't care less about either one of them, and is just looking to nail Trump for something.

So it really is a partisan witch hunt.

Now let's say Manafort claims Trump did something wrong. At that point, any court proceeding would encounter the lack of credibility of any person who struck a plea deal to lower his own sentence.

In other words, anybody being pursued by Mueller's team of 17 partisan Dems will probably plead to something or another whether they actually did it or not.

Who could blame them for trying to salvage their own skin?
