Science Minister looks for signs of gender bias in federal science departments. Kirsty Duncan previously targeted gender gap among university researchers.Well there goes Canada's cutting edge science departments. Instead of selecting a leader that would make science a priority their libtard leader installed a lesbian hell bent on giving women promotions and position based upon their gender.
Federal Science Minister Kirsty Duncan has made it clear that gender equity in science is her number one priority. And now she's looking beyond universities to scientists employed by the federal government.
Duncan said in an interview in Toronto this week that she has asked science-based departments in the federal government to collect demographic data about their staff as a first step in bringing gender equity to all areas of science.
Gender equity is something Duncan, a former medical geographer who studied diseases like the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, has already shown she is passionate about.
"As a former scientist who happens to be a woman, it was not always easy, and I spent 25 years fighting for diversity in research, being held back as I watched men progressing faster than I was. When I visit the different science departments I look around and there are very few women, that is going to change, that I can promise."
More recently, Duncan implemented equity rules for the Canada Excellence Research Chairs program and threatened to withhold Canada Research Chairs funding from universities that don't meet equity targets within the next two years.
"To the [science] community's credit, there are changes being made," she said, noting that women made up 68 per cent of recipients of the Canada 150 Research Chairs announced in March. I want to see more of that in all science departments.
