Police - fail (Responded to shooter's home 32 times, mostly for violence and threats, not one arrest, kept his record clean so he could buy the weapon.)
Sheriff - fail (Armed Deputy Sheriff school resource officer, heard shooting and took cover (4 minutes) until shooting was over, Trump has rightfully called him a coward.)
School - fail (Had several run ins with shooter including threats and violence, never reported him or took any action)

Results - 17 people slaughtered at a gun free school and Democrats still insist we should leave our protection to the folks above, no need for us to have to defend ourselves.

And who do you think will be howling the loudest when some poorly trained teacher accidentally kills a student while gunning for a school shooter? Conservative gun rights people, of course, bemoaning how people need to be better trained before they carry guns in schools.
They'll ignore the fact that they put the guns in the schools and and didn't provide police-level training to carry for security because that would mean taxes would need to be raised to pay for the training.
And the police are going to love it when they arrive at school and face several armed teachers firing their weapons and who look exactly like school shooters. The cops will end up taking out the teachers.

But that is a lame, weak argument when we already know there are 17 dead in FL.

The FBI dropped the ball, and so did many others down there.

Schools need multi-layer added security, including access limits, a uniformed armed officer for whatever that might deter, a plain clothes "sky marshal"-esque type, and also trained teachers who might be willing to help respond if need be.

Many steps need to be taken, and improved background checks would be one.

The fact that the school "safety" officer did nothing doesn't mean you get rid of cops assigned to schools.

Nor does it mean schools should not have "sky marshal" types either.

I think we need professional armed police protection. I have never suggested otherwise.
But the problem at the school was not the result of cops or lack of security or that more cops would have prevented the shooting or any of the other things you are using as a distraction from the sad truth, that what the children needed to be protected from was an AK47 type firearm plus nine other weapons which no human being has a need for.

And we need police to protect us from guys with guns, not guys with warped ideas.
But since you clowns will do anything but address the elephant in the room, that the guy could only kill so many people because of the guns he owned, you will never get to the root of the problem---massive rates of gun ownership and their prevalence in our society.

Your only solution is to spend millions or billions more to try to protect against guys that should never have a gun in the first place. And that includes almost everyone on the planet.
Meanwhile, there are far less expensive solutions that will actually stop the killings of children.

As a percentage of the human population there are very few people who need firearms for anything, and not one of you clowns on this board are among that small group.
