We are very close to releasing the Voyeurweb and all of its functionality. The entire system will be up and running in a matter of days.
VW management will honor and extend 90 days grace period to all active memberships to show our appreciation for the loyalty you have shown us during these difficult and trying times.

I just cannot have the technical guys to expend their time on this right now. We will be up by Sunday evening. They are working right now, the Beta testing is taking a little longer – they are telling me that Beta testing can have a lot of pauses—so not that unusual—12 hours --- I said Sunday- it is only 3 hours past Sunday! I am not the only person working—everyone else is here with me.

Bang goes another 9 hours from then and that 4 1/2 hours ago! So nothing within the next 4 1/2 hours and they lose all credibility!

You can have the damn rain. My poor dogs are PISSED, it's our 2 days off and no walk time.

I did get it. I wouldn't worry about the password deal, it seems VW has been keeping all the passwords in plain text for the past several years. Check your renewal emails if you still have them, back to 2009 mine has had my plain text password on it. None of us apparently ever noticed and thought about it.

If VW doesn't come back up, and with a good Terms & Conditions for posting I'm not sure where we will land.
VC is out since by their standards anyone who has anything to do with the site has full rights to anything posted or submitted. Don't feel like dealing with that when 100 different 3rd party companies can be off selling the content I provide.
WatcherWeb looks decent, but their T&C says they have the right to do anything with the pictures, so not thrilled there. Good for the people that are only looking though. May join their Blue section and try it out.
Russian Voyeur actually has some nice stuff, but too pricey on membership.

Like most I'm quite disappointed this morning to find that New VW hasn't delivered on their recent promises nor explained in any way why they have failed. So, no more rosy optimism for me, precious little patience, but I still can't figure out what possible motivation New VW could have for stringing things along if they had no intention to follow through with a rebuilt website. I've read a lot of unhinged posts on the subject, but nothing I've read really explains why they would go to all this trouble. Why not just crash and burn and stay dead from that first Saturday? Anyone with a rational explanation for "why?"

OK, this is too funny, I was checking out VC's T&C for contributors:

"We protect your privacy under the highest standards: Your data is kept securely encrypted, we never spam and we never sell email addresses. Access to your data is only granted to very few people inside the ******** organisation. We do not release any data to 3rd parties."


So, either VC is not part of the so-called former VW network and is indeed using images provided by that so-called network or they are blatantly violating their own T&C by providing all of these things to the 3rd parties in the so-called network.

1) Complete incompetence.

I agree Dark -- so much effort for so little apparent payback. In fact, they don't GAIN money from defaulting on accounts, they could only avoid paying out money, and I'm sure they could easily fold as a business and avoid paying anything if they were really that devious. The only thing of value I see changing hands here is the database of contributor images, and that changed hands long ago.

No, the 503s would be far, far worse if that were the case. Everyone is just dropping by now and the server has over 600 users, 4-5 times the usual load. Its been clear for some time that this is just some puny shared hosting site and even their regular load of 100-150 users was overtaxing it.

Now remember when fully operational the VW network probably was serving 100 times the users and several hundred or thousand times the data and you see how unprepared this system is to be the new VW.

OK, so they removed irrevocable, they can still put it anyplace they like, sell it to anyone they want, and transfer it in any fashion. Including making DVD's or movies and selling those separately. And in order to get them to stop you must give them the exact specific place they are using it and the exact image name, and the exact fashion you don't want them to be using it as.

And now, almost 16 hours into the day after the site should have been up, with absolutely no word coming from anyone even claiming to be from VW, I'm about ready to hang this up. I don't like what I've seen on VC, I like even less the little I know about "Igor" and his riole in this whole mess, so aside from checking every day or so for awhile till I'm finally willing to admit the loss of a good site, I can't see any reason to stay. But there is an agreement between site and contributor that is based in a large part on trust. And if a site is willing to buy that content it shows they don't respect that bond of trust either.

I would bet that there are plenty of 'random people' doing just that. More so than websites who wold LIKE to garner your trust, but cannot, for the reasons previously mentioned.

Once you hit the send button, it's gone. And you can never 'take it back', and you will never be able to track it as it makes it trip around the globe. SO be sure you don't care WHO ELSE see's it BEFORE you hit send. That's all I"m trying to say.
