"An honest person will dislike Nixon's dishonesty and LBJ's dishonesty, but still be candid and dislike Obama's dishonesty too."-johnforbes
Wrong, johnny, you miss the point yet again.
I don't dislike LBJ because he was dishonest. I dislike LBJ because he sent tens of thousands to die for nothing.
That's not my opinion. That's Sec. McNamara's opinion and LBJ's own opinion. If you haven't heard the tapes of them discussing this or read McNamara's book on it, then do so. It's horrifying.
I don't dislike Nixon because he was dishonest. I dislike Nixon because he used his dishonesty to destroy people's lives and careers and to subvert the Constitution, just because he could.
The problem with "dishonesty" or "deception" is you have to navigate the grays to evaluate it as being "good" or "bad".
If you're going to say all dishonesty is bad per se, and that all dishonesty is equally bad, then you have just indicted most of the parents in America for lying to their children about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. You've indicted every doctor who told a 10-year-old surgical patient before surgery that everything would be okay when he knew it wouldn't.
You've indicted every husband that has told his wife she looks as beautiful as the day they met or that her butt doesn't look fat in those jeans.
You've indicted every undercover agent that fabricated a cover story. You've indicted every police officer who set up a sting operation.
There are times for dishonesty and deception. And I don't believe a single one of you could say otherwise.
Did Obama kill 30,000 U.S. soldiers and maim 100,000 more for nothing with his dishonesty?
No, he got a few million poor people health care insurance who couldn't afford it.
Well FUCK HIM! It's the end of the world as we know it!
You guys need to get some perspective.
The problem with any deception by Obama and his health care deal is not that he got people covered who couldn't afford it.
The problem is he was too green, he didn't have the political savvy to take on the insurance companies and win. (A man's got to know his limitations.)
So he settled for a terrible Romney/Republican 'private sector' solution to the problem instead of holding out for a single payer system like he wanted in the first place.
"For a person like His Lordship, he dislikes dishonesty ONLY from the other party."-johnfibs
Even you know that's an outright lie, johnny.
And you even suggested as much in your first line that I quoted ,
I've explicitly condemned Johnson more than once on this forum for what he did to you and this country and you know it.
Party has nothing to do with it. Why would I give a flying fuck about the Democrats?
"When Jonathan Gruber admits Obamacare was rammed through on the basis of lies, His Lordship says that's fine."-johnflops
I defy you to provide a quotation where I said any such thing.
But you won't because you can't, as always.
tvd, I will try to get back to you on your queries. Your last post is one of the few interesting posts on this forum because it actually discusses a point of view.
But a serious question takes an actual effort that takes time to respond adequately. There is no two-line answer. It may be a few days before I find that time.
All I can say right now is that you thoroughly misunderstand my position on these things.
