Leave it to a clown like johnforbes to pretend that 'real' country music is high-IQ and 'highly talented'.
Even a complete dodo like johnforbes knows that country music prides itself on being the music of the self-centered "common man." (And if johnforbes isn't "common" nobody is.) If country music history is any indication, the "common man" spends his time drinking beer, getting into bar fights, cheating on their wives, driving around in pick up trucks, and crying over their dead dog. You know, all that high-IQ stuff.
And those high-IQ country artists (like Waylon Jennings) might brandish a revolver and threaten to shoot off the fingers of any musicians who played something he didn't like. You know, things that any intelligent person might do.
Sure, there have been many incredibly gifted artists in country music, as in every other music genre. But that johnforbes can't grasp that Taylor Swift is one of those highly gifted artists is just ignorant of him. He honestly thinks that if he doesn't like something personally, then it isn't 'good' or 'intelligent' enough or 'talented' enough. He's the one here who couldn't grasp the rare greatness of Whitney Huston's voice, regardless of what she chose to record. (By the way, I couldn't give a shit about Swift's music. It bores me. But so does George Strait's sort of three-chord sentimental nonsense about how country music was 'murdered' by the music industry. Criminy, what musically uninteresting silliness that appeals to low-IQ people. And yes, dimwits like johnforbes obviously find the song to be profound.)
Either artists perform with their heart and soul and connect with their audiences, or they don't. If they do, they have that ineffable thing we call "talent." But it wouldn't hurt to learn more than five chords while you're at it, though your low-IQ audience probably couldn't care less about being fed another three-chord spoonful of musical pablum. After you've consumed six beers, just about anything will sound good to you....at least up until you pass out (or until someone punches your lights out in what johnforbes considers to be another 'high-IQ fight' down at the road house.)
"...minimal talent and low IQ to a high net worth. "-johnfoibles
Criminy. It sounds like johnforbes is making a self-loathing commentary on his own undeserved dumb luck in life.
