Political discussions about everything

johnny, you got marching orders from your partisan handlers and nothing more.

You are fine with ignoring the Bill of Rights when it suits you and you feign outrage when it doesn't suit your partisan interests, just like ALL Republicans.

Anyone who would take your ridiculous posturing 'concern' seriously is a fool. You have about as much integrity as a typical Tea Party member, which is NONE.

Why don't you go ask your Constitutional Law professor from your pretend alma mater?
#124374
They can't locate any such provision.

Interestingly, I had two 3 credit courses in Con Law in undergrad. Teacher was a lawyer working on his PhD at Johns Hopkins.

Also, had two 3 credit pre-law courses from him, and we even read the classic lectures for new law students captured in The Bramble Bush.

Made first year law school a piece of cake.

johnny, stop dancing around the question. Maybe you can show us the emergency provision of the US Constitution that gives Trump "total authority"?

"When President Trump was asked during Monday’s news briefing what authority he has to reopen the country, he didn’t hesitate to answer. “I have the ultimate authority,” the president responded, cutting off the reporter who was speaking.
“When somebody is the president of the United States, the authority is total and that’s the way it’s got to be. … It’s total. The governors know that.”
"The local leaders, Trump said, “can’t do anything without the approval of the president of the United States.”"--- So WHO SAYS, johnny? I mean, besides Trump? You couldn't care less.

johnny, you're here nitpicking over what Democrats and governors can do, but you completely overlook the broader and more sweeping question of what in the Constitution gives Trump the "total authority" he claims? You don't even care about the big Constitutional questions that Trump places before you every day. You've never questioned his claims even once. So why feign caring on this thread?

Maybe you should ask Trump this question if you won't ask your Constitutional Law professor.

An answer worthy of Trump, johnny.

You not only failed to address my question, but also managed to blame someone else for Trump's decisions.

Why is he even in office? He can't stand up to anyone. Not Democrats, not Kim, not Putin, not Xi... the only people he stands up to are the "best people" he hired that disagree with him. Well, except for Fauci and Birx, it seems, right?

Why will you vote for such a pussy again, johnny?
#124531
I think you meant your opening post was "trench foot" and appeared pretty gross.

I see johnforbes is still dancing around the question, which is tantamount to admitting his legal education was wasted.

His Constitutional Law professor also apparently told him to stop being so naive and then said "Go suck an egg," so now he's asking me for some reason.

Keep on dancing around the question, johnny.
#124555
I located it long ago, johnny, and without a law degree either.

But I'm not about to do your homework for you, you lazy partisan weasel.

There is no way you could have gotten through law school without learning how to do legal research.

If you say you can't research it yourself, that only proves you lied about attending law school.

Surely it doesn't suffice for Clown and Elkin, these towering intellects of this fine forum, these esteemed comrades, to sit idly by while this question lingers in the April twilight?

I am relying on the fine scholarly skills of Clown and Elkin.

Added together, they spent 26 years in high school, after factoring in all the times they flunked and repeated.

Given their intellectual heft, surely they will soon answer the opening query?

Tool, the Kaiser Family Foundation Health Poll says 80% of Americans approve of the shutdown steps being taken to fight the pandemic. That includes a lot of Trump supporters.

"A majority of Americans — 8 in 10 — say strict shelter-in-place guidelines are worth it, to keep people safe from COVID-19 and control the spread of the virus, according to a new Kaiser Family Foundation tracking poll. The same percentage, of around 80% of Americans, also say they can follow the restrictions for at least one more month."
https://www.npr.org/sections/coronaviru ... poll-finds

Your 20% is not a "silent majority" you imbecile. Do the math, fer cripes sake.

Oh, right, your math is about as good as you English. They are neither silent (they grunt, pump their fists and chant) nor a majority. You don't even understand what "majority" means.

Never mind, dimwit.
#124575
YouTube took down the video of the two doctors who pointed out the absurdity of California's lockdown.

If people believe sheltering in place is a good idea, it is likely because the leftist media outlets preach that, but never mention the truth that fresh air and sunshine are perfect cures for pandemic influenza.

As proof, deBlasio went for a walk in a Brooklyn park just yesterday and was filmed.
#124581
johnforbes is too dimwitted to understand that what is right for one part of this huge country may not yet be right for another part at a different stage of infection.

Sadly, if a solution to a problem isn't black-and-white, yes-or-no, one-size-fits-all, the conservative mind has no way to understand or cope with it.
#124582
I actually agree that, in a large and complex country, what may be correct for a county in New Mexico may not be proper for a county in New Jersey.

However, I still can't seem to locate the executive power to shut down a beach, or a park, or one kind of business versus another.

Nor can I find where Dr Fauci or Dr Birx get the authority to declare the country closed.
#124587
"However, I still can't seem to locate the executive power to shut down a beach, or a park, or one kind of business versus another."-johnflubs

So ask Trump about it, johnny. Why are you letting him simply do whatever he wants without any authorization from the Constitution? Your partisan hypocrisy is destroying the country you pretend to love so much.

"Nor can I find where Dr Fauci or Dr Birx get the authority to declare the country closed."-johnflubs

Then it should comfort you to know they don't actually have that power, johnny. Trump is the one making all the decisions.
And we know you trust his judgment explicitly.
#124598
explicitly-- in a clear and detailed manner, leaving no room for confusion or doubt.

It's what you do here every day, johnny. You let us know clearly in words that you support what he does. You twist yourself into a pretzel to support him and rationalize whatever stupid thing he says or does. It isn't tacit support.

Either your explicit support for EVERYTHING he says and does reflects explicit trust in his judgment, or else you're just an incredibly cynical, partisan, and vile human being. take your pick.
#124603
So if you are not willing to figure anything out for yourself why don't you ask Jared Kusher?

A credentialist like yourself could appreciate the fact Trump put his under-qualified idiot son in law in charge of allocating scarce medical resources.

So what could be more than on brand for Trump to have Kushner go out and spin his disastrous coronavirus response as a victory.
