California Citizens Revolt Against Governor Brown As Massive Tax Applied To The Pump
The state of California saw a drastic bill pass through the state office. The Road Repair and Accountability Act was passed by the Democrats, and with it came the largest gas tax in the history of the liberal state.
While Democrats were thrilled they passed it, the actual citizens of the state are fighting back. A recall effort has been launched against the state Senator who voted in favor of the unpopular act. Californians have started a petition effort.
The law, which was passed on April 6, saw a 12 cents-a-gallon increase on fuel. Diesel fuel users saw their fuel go up by 20 cents. These might not seem drastic, but over time they really add up.
The vote was passed along party lines. Governor Jerry Brown supported and eventually approved the law. That has prompted some Southern California talk show hosts to start the recall campaign targeting State Senator Josh Newman.

The New Gas Tax Is Making Californians Pay A Lot More At The Pumps.
“That’s the only thing that works, is to take one of their team members out, politically,” Ken Chaiampou said. He’s a co-host of the radio show “John and Ken” based in Los Angeles.
This targeting comes after Republican Assemblyman Travis Allen had filed a ballot initiative last week to repeal the gas tax.
“In 2010, Jerry Brown said, ‘there should be no tax increases without a vote of the people.’ Repealing the gas tax will simply help him keep his promise to California voters,” Allen said when announcing the initiative.
He also noted that the legislation isn’t going to help the roads in any way, shape or form. However, Governor Brown chided Republicans for opposing the bill, which he called a common-sense tax.
To make things worse, gas taxes do not usually fix the roads. They’re supposed to, but states divert that money to help in other areas. So California is paying higher taxes for something that won’t fix the problem.
