Political discussions about everything

Emerson's "Self-Reliance" was a perfect capturing of a spirit necessary to the settlement of the American West.

As was the Turner Thesis.

Oh, hell, I thought you said the Turner Diaries.....

Probably few college grads these days even know who Frederick Jackson Turner was.

Posthumous Tea Party Founding Father Tim McVeigh, had numerous Turner Diaries coloring books.

I would like to thank Grog for his many positive contributions to this thread.

Alas, reality forbids it because Grog has made none.

My authorship of this thread is what has ensured its enshrinement as the longest lasting, most posted-on and most viewed thread here.

Thank you for your less-than meager "contributions," Forbes.

Some things can be sensed early on.

In the case of Grog, his presence -- like his postings -- are preceded by the stench of sulphur and stale sweat.

From its humble beginnings, in the mire of Grog's demented ideation, this thread has reached for the stars.

Ad astra per aspera.

I'm sure that JustFreedManMe believes that.

And Insipid is in your corner as well. lol

I agree that Thoreau is worth reading regardless where one might stand on politics.

Every year, I go on a canoe trip, usually either to Minnesota or up into Canada.

Thoreau's Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers (1849) is interesting.

Over the many years this thread has enriched western civilization, many contributors to it have sustained their justifiable pride therefrom.

I've promised not to reveal Grog's cell phone number, and I shall keep that promise.

However, it is eminently reasonable to reveal that Grog's path along the highways and byways of the Information Superhighway has been mostly under his common login name of Relentless_Mendacity.

Television is a medium of entertainment which permits millions of people to listen to the same joke at the same time, and yet remain lonesome -- T. S. Eliot

One of the fascinating books of the 20th Century was The Lonely Crowd, which came out about 1950.

Grog has destroyed his phone!

I found the two crushed Campbell soup cans and piece of frayed cotton string...

near the gas pumps of a Muzzie owned convenience store.

Whatever information Grog had stored in those cans....is gone forever.

I am reluctant to reveal Grog's postal mailing address.

But, just to drop a hint, his post office is in Lower Moose Jaw, which is in the Dismal Swamp area.

The exact location is the second drawer behind the counter at Dirtbag McQuaig’s Gas and Eats.

Many times I've seen him eat there.

He orders a glass of water, then pours ketchup in it, and stirs it with a toothpick.

So now we know where johnforbes spends all his time when he's not out trolling the interstate rest stops.
I just can't believe he's admitting to us he's been there "many times".

So what's the big draw to Lower Moose Jaw, johnny, and if it's such an insult that Grog is there, why isn't it an insult that you are there?

You've got to be the worst lawyer I've ever encountered. You keep walking into your own traps and insults.

It is difficult to produce a television documentary that is both incisive and probing when every twelve minutes one is interrupted by twelve dancing rabbits singing about toilet paper. - R. Serling ...."Rod" was/is one of the good ones....
By johnforbes

Rod Serling also created the TV series "The Loner."

We all owe a debt to Grog for starting this wonderful thread.

For himself, Grog owes debts to pretty much everybody foolish enough to extend him credit.

Clownhicker has the same strong, authoritative voice as Minnie Mouse.

johnforbes has the same weak, squeaking voice as the rest of the weasel family.

Even though it is time for me to go for a run, there is a moment to note that Clownstoner has the same physique as Olive Oyl.

One might criticize that, but oyl leave it alone.

It was the very soul of our old aristocratic policy that even a tyrant must never figure as a tyrant. He may break down everybody's fences and steal everybody's land, but he must do it by Act of Parliament and not with a great two-handed sword. And if he meets the people he's dispossessed, he must be very polite to them and enquire after their rheumatism. That's what kept the British Constitution going -- enquiring after the rheumatism. -- G K Chesterton

Sexy Babe, get on Grog's ass....I'm worried about him.... ;)

Grog retains the same fresh, youthful skin as Clint Eastwood.

Unfortunately, Grog's liver has aged in dog years.

Years ago I had a GF who was crazy about the Beatles...so when Lennon got killed...
she decided to honor his memory by getting a tattoo of his likeness.
She cut out a pic from a mag and took it to a tattoo artist and had the tat done on her thigh.
Well, it didn't turn out quite the way she wanted so she told the guy to try it again...on the other thigh.
The second tat looked even less like Lennon to her... so she got really pissed!
The guy, trying to calm her down, told her the tat looked exactly like the pic she brought in...
and he saw nothing wrong with it.
It happened there was another customer there getting a tat..
so she asked him, "hey mister, does this look like John Lennon to you?"
The guy was a little drunk...his eyes were blood shot and he was having a hard time focusing....
He cleared his throat and said, "Well.....I don't know who those two guys on the ends are.....
But the guy in the middle looks like Willie Nelson.."

I would be the first to applaud Grog's positive contributions to this wonderful thread.

Alas, Grog made none.

In a very real sense, this thread serves as a summary of the 72 years Grog has spent here.

He started this thread to shut down the forum, but instead it has served as a hallmark of the scholarly inquiry which the Internet is known for.
