NPR Tweeted Out the Entire Declaration of Independence and Trump Supporters Called It Propaganda
Since Donald Trump was elected president, the country has taken some strange turns. And by "strange" I mean "resembling the early stages of a dystopian novel." Threats against the media are on the rise. Overt racism is on the rise. Our divisions as a country are seeming more and more pronounced. So what better way to battle these scary developments than by focusing on our nation's founding principles?
Well, that's exactly what NPR did yesterday to celebrate the Fourth of July. For the past 29 years, Morning Edition has marked the day by reading the Declaration of Independence aloud, and this year they added Twitter to the mix. Seems about as uncontroversial a decision as you could make on the Fourth of July, but some Trump supporters lost their damn minds because they thought the act was anti-Trump propaganda.
