When the account update page asks for "first name" and "last name" is it requiring real names?
In the past I do not recall any connection between my real name and my username/account beyond the credit card signup (not that my memory is flawless), whereas now I seem to be required to verify my real name as part of the signup process, and my real name was also contained in the update email I received.
I don't mean to sound paranoid, but given the business about the Tampa journalist claiming to have a database linking usernames and real names, it makes me nervous to see this connection as part of the sign-up process. Others can help with this, but a really important security measure would seem to be breaking the linkage between real names and usernames, to avoid any future misuse of such information, say in connection with a power struggle within the company....
Any other thoughts on this?
