This is a well written article and expresses my views on this subject. Although I am not a twenty-something I agree with this article. This should shake politicians up a bit.
Some thoughts:
a. How can we argue or ignore what those who have the education, resources and drive to study climatte have concluded? Isn't this the height of arrogance on our part?
b. There are two glaciers in Antartica that are melting at a rate much faster than scientists thought possible. These have the ability to raise sea levels significantly.
c. if melting of the glaciers does happen, the ocean currents ( Gulf Stream, etc.) WILL change causing disruptions in climates and countries with disasterous results for people in the climate changed areas. Disrupting the ocean currents could trigger another ice age. At one time, the earth was a frozen ball of ice.
d. Global warming could cause mass exodus and starvation, wars for food and world chaos. Are we willing to chance that?
e. Energy efficient cars, energy efficient homes, cradle-to-grave designed products, solar panels on the roof, recycling and all of the other ways to reduce our footprint on the earth not only are good for the earth but are cost effective and increase our independence from corporations.
f. If you won't think of yourself and the people of the earth today, think of your heirs and the world you are leaving them.
g. I have been a vegetarian for many years for health reasons (If you knew my family history you wouldn't sell me life insurance.) It is also very good for the planet.
