Open Discussions about the VoyeurWeb.com site

Katherine has moved the milestone to June 27th. My fingers remained crossed that the community we all love will be back online, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up if it's one delay after another.

I have started a Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/voyeurpeople/) to prepare in the event that VW ceases to exist. It's meant to keep like-minded individuals in touch as well as serving as ground zero for discussion of developing a new voyeur website.

I am setting July 9th as the drop dead date for VW. If they cannot give us something by that time, then I can only assume the chances of it ever coming back is closer to nil.

Please join and spread the word.

Why are you giving it that much time?? Do u seriously think it takes that long to get a site back up if it's even coming back at all??!! What a joke!!

Thank you for that link. I added it to my favorites.

Just because the powers that be here decided to try and get you to spend your hard earned money on another site, doesn't mean that the true amateur posters need them.

Take a look at both sites. This one has been faked for a few years. The other one just started out that way. What is the common denominator.

The answer is your money.

All the best,

The short answer is that there's no point in reinventing the wheel if VW is back by tomorrow.

The long answer is If they are truly a small glitch fix away from launching in the next few days, then all of this was simply an exercise in gathering the troops. To build this scale of website properly and securely, planning and discovery is essential — which I plan on undertaking the next 2 weeks. If VW doesn't deliver in that time frame, then it's time to get my hands dirty. Which basically means taking on costs, eg purchasing servers, forum software, etc. If there are only a handful of people interested, then there's no financial reason to take on such a task. Give people enough time to say, "I want this" and then deliver as such.

It doesnt take two weeks to deliver that. Especially considering that they have had 15 days already to deliver something. It's not "re-inventing the wheel" here. It's a sad attempt to string people along as long as they can. Come Wednesday, there will be another glitch or another problem that people will believe and they will still have hope. Seriously, it's a sad joke. Like I said before, Ashton Kutcher would impressed how many people got Punked!!

Benefit of the doubt my friend. I'm basically giving them a month, which by developer standards is more than enough time to restore the website to full capacity. If Wednesday comes along and VW is back online, then this discussion is pointless. If not, then I continue as planned.

Listen, I'm as upset as you are. I paid for my involvement with this community and I want it back. But I'm not going to throw up a phpBB installation and say here you go. I want things done right, don't you?

It's not a question of things being done right. It's a question of providing content that people paid for and are expecting. It doesn't take a month to produce. I have friends in IT that I talked to about what it takes to get a massive website up and running and they all agree that one month is a sad example of their profession. I'm not sure who they are supposedly have working on it if anyone at all but taking twenty four hours to provide any update, fake or not, is a sad joke. Go ahead and wait until July and see how much more disappointed you feel.

rezzi, we are communicating on different levels. When I say "things done right" I am talking about myself building a new website, not what VW is doing. They supposedly have the source code and I would agree that it wouldn't take more than a month to test it and push it live. They should have had answers within the first week, especially when money is a motivating factor. But I cannot speak for them and their **** of mystery.

You misunderstood me about waiting until July. From this point until July 9th, I will be in the discovery process — eg What forum software is the best choice. Can the contri section be built off open source or does it needs to be built form the ground up? How will the audience be built, do I let them in free (which basically means the entire base of internet users can join) or charge a fee to the already disgruntled audience? Questions like this need to be answered before I start grinding out code.

Honestly if you think you can do a better job or know somebody that can, then let me hand you the reigns. I'm simply scheduling this based on my experience in building other major websites for high profile clients. Either way, I just want my community back.

I can't do a better job but my friends that work for a major search engine and a major online gaming site can't get involved with a site such as this. I just wanted their input without naming specifics. I'm just going by what the thoughts were. I respect the fact that u want it to work out, I just don't see it happening. I hate to see a lot of loyal followers get Punked.

There is no gloating. It's a loss-loss for everyone. I guess I'm not one to hold on to false hope. I hate to see a major site go down like this but false hopes and promises won't make up for it. I feel for the people that lost money but at the same time, if you have $30 to spend on a porn site, I feel like you can take the loss. It is what it is. Time to move on from the BS and find somewhere else legit to post. If not, trade with the other followers. I have lots of pics to share...just not to a website that screws over its loyal customers.

Marmar, I would not assume that just because VW comes back, if it does, your project will be unnecessary. We don't have any idea what sort of VW it will be, and the signs so far are not promising. For instance, what will be their Terms and Conditions for contributors? I'd move as quickly as possible if I were you and be ready to take advantage of a potential massive backlash against the site once it comes up. Look at how they've handled community relations so far! Not that I'm wishing them ill or hoping they fail, just being realistic.

rugrollers, I can say that the ball is rolling. I'm gathering feedback from other members to help me formulate the best plan of action. I'll expand more on this privately to your gmail in a bit because I'm not going to expose my plans to VW.
