It would be nice if the mod's actually could ban people that cut others down. I realize you allow freedom, but seriously boards become a community that work together and support each other. Without the mod's help to ban those people that bitch and scare people away, it would be far better board .

I don't know about ban people, but I would like to see Mods that had the ability to maybe remove posts pending review, maybe give 48-96 hour bans. But anything more than that should be in the hands of employees, not volunteers who might let power go to their heads or take things personal.

IP addresses prove little or nothing. If you have a dialup connection, your IP address will change everytime you call in. If a permanent connection, rebooting may assign a new IP address. Even at that IPv4 depletion has caused many tricks to be developed to stretch the address space so that tens or even hundreds of computers may share the same address.

Commercial connections frequently use one IP per network to interface the the internet, but almost any residential connection uses changeable or shared IPs. If you try banning IPs from posting, more likely you just banned 100 random users.
