Thumper, I bet you're a better cook than you let on, lol!

Maybe John and Beave will bring back some new Berty style recipes for us all to try?

Skeeter, I am so so glad you're feeling better and back here more, you always make me laugh!

Jr, I need to post that recipe of yours unless you have time and want to do it?

Trinity, do you have any good ones to share?

Lady T, Didi , Elise, Honora, Thinker, Chuck, RC, Jerry, anyone else, how about you?

The rain is calling me back to bed, huggs everyone!

Manda, I don't really have much in the way of recipes from Bertyland for you. But we did have at their house baked potatoes with Branston pickle which was quite tasty... and Rita made some hagis sausage with onions and brown gravy one night that was excellent. She also made her version of corned beef and potatoes which was also quite good... but totally different from my version of corned beef hash.

Breakfast for the most part was something quick like cereal, toast with p-nut butter or fried eggs. We were on the go pretty much all the time so I never did get to experience a full traditional English breakfast. Oh, what they call bacon over there we would call thin ham steaks. It was good!

While we were on the Scotland tour we did have breafast at the hotel. I had scrambled eggs one morning and couldn't finish them. I don't know what they put in them... :? but it was some kind of filler. Rita looked at me weird when I put butter in my porridge. Hey, I was just trying to give it some flavor. Some of what you hear about bland British food is true...but for the most part I didn't find that the case.

It was interesting to see advertisements for "American style" burgers because their style seemed to be a small meat patty in a roll with not much of anything else. But it also depended on where we were. I had to laugh at the places where I saw the burger patty advertised as "gluten free". Uhhhh... HELLO... it's supposed to be gluten free. It's ground beef! But a lot of places do add fillers to the patties.

I did try a lot of different things such as pasties which are basically a meat filled turnover... Scotch pies which are different types of meat in a small pie shaped pasty crust... (sounds like a pastie but is totally different)... sausage, mashed taters and gravy in Yorkshire pudding... and Beave loved the fish and chips. She had them several times. I am not a fish eater so I didn't.
#25340
It's possible, Grumps. But I didn't see any. I did see a lot of... now don't get excited... sheep. There were sheep everywhere in Scotland. I'm sure it was for the wool cuz I don't remember seeing lamb on any menus.
#26389
Beave is coming over this morning to do my company billing... and no... that is NOT a euphemism... she really does my accounting. As payment for her services it's usually a couple of glasses- or bottles- of wine. But we usually do it in the evenings.

Today it's a morning billing time so I am making her breakfast. On the menu is... sausage gravy on toast - cuz I'ts too damn hot to turn on the oven to make biscuits , eggs to order, fresh peaches picked from a customer's trees (and very tasty indeed) and- of course- tangerine juice.

It's not even 7:30 on the left coast and already 82° headed towards a high of 109° according to MSN or 103° per The Weather Channel... which tends to be a little closer. Another lovely day!

Where is Manda??? :?

Bob gave me a recipe to post and I'll see if I can get one or two up over the weekend. :)

Happy Sunday everyone!

I wanted to just make a little comment about fish oil. I read a little thing where it said a new study said fish oil may make the risk of prostate cancer higher and I have pushed my father to take it for years and now I am wondering if that was a good idea? I don't know if anyone can add anything to that but it got me thinking.

It might be fun to talk a little bit about nutrition and balance and how we can help keep up with health and wellness and sex drive. I hate being so tired all I can do is sleep and I am sure I am not alone!

What is the one diet change each of you has made that made you feel suddenly better or suddenly more in the mood?

 :D
#27398
I did not know fish use oil too when having sex. It is amazing what you can learn on these forums!!!!

The one diet change I have made is to eat my biggest meal (with meat) at lunch. I was eating sandwiches at lunch, getting hungry at 2:30P, and eating a snack. I workout or do sports after work so don't get to eat dinner until 7 or 8. When I eat a lot, I still feel very full when I go to bed.

I noticed when I go out to eat with co-workers, I am not hungry in the afternoon...no snack needed. Eating my dinner at lunch keeps me going until after my workout. Then I eat a sandwich or salad which is much lighter in my stomach. By bedtime, I feel just right.

It seems to cut down on the number of calories for the day without any change of habits or diet...just when I have dinner.
#27406
Manda, I had not heard about a possible connection between fish oil and prostate cancer. The biggest concern I've heard is that fish oil may contain heavy metals. (Most of our pollution seems to end up in the oceans.) I am now seeing that most bottles of fish oil say that heavy metals have been filtered out. If you really want to be safe, you can take flax seed oil instead. It is a little more expensive than fish oil, though, but a good source of omega 3 fatty acids.
#27749
The COFFee is on retro,

I'll whip you up an omelette as soon as I find my apron. Lol! Onions, mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes, some diced boars head turkey and a little cheese. I'll add in some flax seed oil (thanks Paul, xoxo!)and garnish with some mango salsa, yum! A slice of Ezekiel bread and breakfast is served!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Xoxo
#27752
Good Sunday Morning to y'all! Wrapping up the first half of my vacation today with my parents. Then heading over to a State Park near my brother's house to go "cabining." We hesitate to call it camping since the cabins have A/C, frigs, etc. We fail to live up to the Country Gal bar of rustic-ness.
#27758
Sounds like my kinda' "cabining," Thinker, I do love the Great Outdoors, with all the comforts of home . . .

. . . Like breakfast with the Beautiful Miss M, Deelicious!

Pour me a cup of that COFFee, if you please, but don't waste too much time searching for your apron . . . breakfast is soooo much more enjoyable, "sans clothing." ;)

Now, where's the morning paper?

Don't tell me Berty's made off with it already.
#27772
DangerousDi wrote:The little apron sounds kind of sexy there.
I have an idea. Would love to see a short apron with a large Y on it. On all 3 ends of the Y, make them arrows pointing to the breasts and pussy. Then add "Breakfast Is Served!" (Patent Pending)
#27985
This isn't Sunday... and it isn't about coffee... but this seems to be the place we chat about food and drink... and Manda's smile and lovely lady parts.

I saw a video article about the top ten countries that drink the most beer per capita. I don't drink the stuff myself :? but I love trivia. The UK came in at number 6. Well done, Berty. You are doing your part. Germany came in at number 3. So although you don't live there anymore, Grumps, your countrymen are picking up the slack for you. The Czech Republic came in number 1. The US wasn't even in the top 10.

Retro, John,

Miss you guys! Budweiser is a Belgian company now, did you know? And Budweiser is also a completely different company in the Czeck Republic too! I have a souvenir glass from there, lol. If I was going to order a beer it would be a Shocktop from Stella, the same company as our Budweiser but if I had a choice , I would go for a mixed drink. They are more fun to try I think? I was out this week and had a martini I really liked, it was a Jalapeno martini. (Honora, you have to try this! Most def! Got your note and sent back xo.) Here is the recipe:

Ingredients
12 ounces Pepper Vodka
1 1/2 ounces dry vermouth
Crushed ice
Candied, or pickled jalapeno pepper slices
Lemon and lime juice added each to taste

Directions
In a cocktail shaker, combine the pepper vodka, vermouth, lemon and lime and crushed ice. Shake well, then strain into 4 chilled, tall martini glasses. Garnish with thin jalapeno slices, add more lemon and lime juice to taste as desired, dust the rim of the glass with sugar.

Makes about 3 1/4 cups which is plenty for a dinner for two or four, I had three of them but I shared some lol!

Serve without apron!

Have fun at tennis Thinker!

Here's my favourite summer recipe...

Long Island Iced Tea

Fill a 1 pint mug with ice cubes, then add...
3/4 oz Vodka
3/4 oz White Rum
3/4 oz Gin
3/4 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
1/2 oz Tequila
1 oz Coca Cola
1.5 oz Bar Lime

Place ass in pool lounger, floating, then add mug to hand.
#28035
Hey Manda,

The last beer I had was a Shock Top. I usually drink Yuengling lager (a favorite in my area), but a neighbor got me to try a Shock Top and I really liked it. I'll have to try some of the other drinks recommended here.
#28058
Thinker, sausage? Hmmm you have to tell more!

Thumper, topless of course, right?

Paul, it's a great beer especially on tap. :)

Skeeter, we need your favorite now. I've had an almond Champaigne before, have you anything like that by you?

With all the drinks talk, we will need mimosas and Irish COFFee to go with our brunchies!

Sausage maybe?? :o  :o  8-)
#28509
I've been absent for far too long. I completely missed Manda's missive.

Lots and lots of almonds around here but I've never tasted "Almond Champagne." My late wife used to do some really interesting and slightly kinky things with Amaretto or Frangelico. Very imaginative girl, she was. ;)

As for my favorite . . . anything served poolside by a topless wench, (Manda,) would be my favorite, "du jour."

Skinny dipping anyone??
S @ the lake C,R.jpg
#28549
Skeeter!

I missed you too! I hope you can tell a little more about your experiences with Amaretto and Frangelico? They certainly do sound interesting? :)

Almond milk is such a healthy alternative to regular milk. It is especially good if someone is lactose intollerant. I use the plain low faat Almond milk with just about anything I would use milk for and it is only thirty calories a serving! Yum!

The almond Champaign bottle I will have to leave you all to guess about?

Grumpy all I can find is powdered. Where would you look for it fresh either raw or pasteurized? I've had Malibu Melon on the rocks before, it is good! Sugar has good taste! :). Have a great Sunday, I have a few errands to run but I'll check in later. :)

Good morning everyone!

I’ve been working on this for a while and VW hates me today, LOL! I’ve been so busy with work and house and declutter but it was so nice to see everyone coming in this week for Elise and Honora and Trinity’s sexy contri!! Before this disappears again I am going to just post and then comment some more. See John, we all love you and wouldn’t leave, LOL!

Grumpy, thank you for the links, I’ll write soon. RC thank you for the repost, I like to keep mine away from my friends so the focus stays on their contri where it should be but I think this one fit the theme, ha ha! Thank you! OK I hope you all like this one!!

Boston Cream Pie (not THAT kind sillies!)

I Love Boston and this is a huge favorite in my family. This is a lower calorie alternative but still sinfully good!!!

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 (18-1/4-ounce) package light yellow cake mix

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

2/3 cup water

2 egg whites, no yoke 

1‑1/2 teaspoons vanilla, divided cuz you will use it separately.

1 package (4-serving size) sugar-free instant vanilla pudding and pie filling mix

1‑1/3 cups fat-free (skim) milk

Chocolate Glaze (the recipe is down below)

PREPARATION:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 9 inch round cake pan with any nonstick cooking spray or lightly coat with butter and then lightly coat with flour and set aside.

2. Combine cake mix and baking soda in large bowl; mix it up well while dry. Next add water, egg whites and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat at low speed with electric mixer 30 seconds. Increase speed to medium; beat 2 minutes.

3. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes or until cake pulls away from side of pan and springs back when touched lightly in center. Remove from oven. Cool 10 minutes on wire rack. Invert onto serving plate; cool completely.

4. Combine pudding mix, milk and remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in medium bowl. Beat at low speed with electric mixer 2 minutes; set aside.

5. Prepare Chocolate Glaze.

6. Make it topless! Ha ha! Cut the cake in half horizontally and be careful and go slow as you take off the top half of the cake. Now, spread the topless half with pudding mixture, mmm, sounds fun right? Now after your done playing with it, replace the top, sorry guys! Then as a consolation, spoon Chocolate Glaze (that recipe is just below here ) over the top of the cake. Leave it alone for a while and let it stand until the glaze hardens. Then you can cut it into wedges.

Serves 8.

Chocolate COFF Glaze Recipe (works well on pie and for play)

INGREDIENTS

2/3 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tablespoon water

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

PREPARATION:

1. Sift together powdered sugar and cocoa in medium bowl. Add water and vanilla; mix well.

2. Add more water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until of desired spreading consistency.

Now if you want to cut calories even more, try a dusting of powdered sugar instead of the chocolate glaze. That way the glaze can be saved for play, easy water cleanup too!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Manda - I like quickies but rather have more time to do it right. ;) Oh wait, that's not what you are talking about. I better go and start drinking some water but no guarantees on the partying this weekend. Does ice in my drinks count as chilled water? :?
#29193
Manda, I too like quickies first thing in the morning. Here are the benefits of doing so:

#5 Empties your prostate so you will be lighter all day.

#4 Gives your lady extra protein to make her skin glow.

#3 Puts a smile on your face which releases endorphins to lower your stress.

#2 Puts your morning woodie to good use.

#1 Empties your balls for a second time since once is never enough!

I just got this fro. a friend today, it is even more to the point!

A SIP OF SOFT DRINK : HOW SOFT DRINKS
DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH
Here are details of the possible health dangers you experience
from drinking soft drinks.
ASTHMA:
Sodium benzoate, found in soft drinks, is used as preservative
(microbial control) in foods. Sodium preservatives add sodium
to the diet and reduce the availability of potassium. Some
reported reactions to Sodium benzoate include recurring
urticarial(rash), asthma, and eczema.
KIDNEY ISSUES:
Colas contain high levels of Phosphoric Acid which has been
linked to kidney stones and other renal problems. You are more
likely to get kidney stones if you’re male & overweight.
SUGAR OVERLOAD:
Twenty minutes after drinking a soda, your blood sugar spikes,
causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning
any sugar into fat.
Forty minutes later, caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils
dilate; your blood pressure rises; as a response, your liver
dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine
receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
Forty Five minutes later, your body ups your dopamine
production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is
physically the same way heroine works, by the way.
OBESITY:
The relationship between soft drink consumption and body
weight is so strong that researchers calculate that for each
additional soda consumed, the risk of obesity increases
1.6times.
70% of Cardiovascular disease is related to obesity. 42% of
breast & colon cancer are diagnosed in obese individuals. 30% of
gall bladder surgery is related to obesity.
DISSOLVES TOOTH ENAMEL:
Sugar and acid in soft drinks easily dissolve the tooth enamel.
When tooth decay reaches the nerve, the root, & the area at the
base of the tooth, the tooth may die, & if left untreated, an
abscess can develop & seep into your system. This has been
known to cause cancer in many cases.
HEART DISEASE:
Most soft drinks contain high fructose corn syrup, a sweetener
that’s recently come under considerable scrutiny. High fructose
corn syrup has been associated with an increased risk of
metabolic syndrome, a condition associated with an elevated
risk of both diabetes and heart disease.
REPRODUCTIVE ISSUES:
Soft drink cans are coated with resin that contains BPA
(biphenyl-A).This is the same cancer chemical found in plastic
baby bottles, water bottles, and plastic containers that wreak
havoc on the endocrine system potentially causing premature
puberty and reproductive abnormalities. 99.9% of plastic bottles
contain BPA.
OSTEOPOROSIS:
Soft drinks contain phosphoric acid and a high phosphate diet
has been associated with bone breakdown and an increased
risk of osteoporosis. When phosphorus is excreted in the urine, It
takes calcium with it, depriving the bones and the rest of the
body of this important mineral. 80% of those affected by
osteoporosis are women. 20% are men.
INCREASED RISK OF DIABETES:
Those who drink more soft drinks have an 80% increased risk of
developing Type 2 diabetes.
BRAIN FUNCTION
I add this. The sugar & / or high fructose affect your ability to
learn & your memory function.

Have a great weekend, we had terrible rain here all day but its nice now. :-)
#29212
Manda,

I'll add some things about diet sodas. They have many of the same problems as sugary sodas. For example, they, too, contain phosphoric acid, sodium benzoate, etc. Besides that, studies are now indicating that diet sodas don't satisfy your craving for sweets, so you end up eating/drinking more. The net result--you don't lose weight.

Most sodas are artificially sweetened with aspartame (Equal). This breaks down into aspartate (a brain neurotransmitter) formaldehyde (used in embalming bodies). Just as antidepressants make you think & act differently, aspartame can do the same thing--but not necessarily for the better. The only safe artificial sweetener is Stevia (NOT Truvia!).

Happy Labor Day Everyone!

Paul
#29250
Sheesh! All this negativity, thanks for the warnings but who drinks diet sodas anymore, anyway?

Can we please get back to things more "site appropriate?" Like breakfast! (with chilled water, of course)

I was just musing, over on CountryGals thread, about ordering up a little CG, over easy for breakfast. Butt, now that I've seen Manda's new propic I find myself with a dilema on my hands. Two delectable tushes on the menu. I'm soooo confused! :? And really hungry!

Would it be condidered gluttoness to wish for both? Like maybe "one from column "M" and one from column "C?"

Told ya' I was really hungry . . . now pass the ice water. 8-)
#29332
Dang Think, looks good!

Retro, The fluoride is good for your teeth, of course its an industrial byproduct, so is water vapor, carbon dioxide, gasoline too for that matter. The water quality in this country really varies, I will agree. Filling my pool leaves it green. Gross isn't it?

I agree with the spin goddess, drink yer water, filter it and add a little Bourbon as needed!
#29351
Grump, I used to taste the difference in bottled water. Now I buy only one brand if at all possible but I mainly drink tap water that is filtered. Even my ice maker is filtered. Guess nothing in my Bourbon except the ice - there goes my 7-Up. Oh, and I remember the day when I'd stop by a stream of water to take a drink. Nothing like nice cold mountain fresh water back then.

That pie does look good.
#29414
Thinker sweetie, That pie looks really good! I owe you a reply or two, grumpy and John too. I'll get to it soon, promise!

Have a great weekend everyone!
#29452
Thumper, you are soooo bad! Lol

Miss you two, we have to catch up soon! Ask Lady T if she has any good healthy pie recipes to share?

Wouldn't it be fun to have some from all the COFFettes? Who wants to start?

Guys too! John, I bet you have one to share? :)

Thumper, you must have one of your own too? :D

Maybe we could have a food and flash contest?
That sounds fun to me, what do you think?

I'm all questions today I think!
