DD, my goal is to work enough to pay for my vacations. There is so much of this amazing planet that I would love to see still. What I saw of England and Scotland was gorgeous. Possible trips overseas... the Highlands of Scotland... Ireland- provided I can get a personal guided tour from our favorite Irish Lass with the red hair. :mrgreen: ... and too many places to mention.

Marilyn's videos were what made me bother to click the link in the first place. It's exquisitely done, which is what I like.

As I have said many times, what I expected to find in VW and what I ultimately discovered were quite unexpectedly different and positive. The level of video's presented here is growing better and better all the time. If nothing else I owe my friend a debt of gratitude for introducing me to the whole world of VW!


Partly the extraordinary tech advances can take some credit. You can go to Best Buy as I did today and pick up a kick ass HDTV video/ Still Camera with wifi blue tooth High ISO, fully social media (all sorts) and web connected for 399-699 (depending on whether you want a DSLR or a point n shoot, the DSLR has the iso up to 25K....yes 25 thousand! Lenses are not cheep but way less than Nikon lenses AND they even have one to make your own 3 D video and stills!!! How cool is that!!!???) that makes my new Nikon D7000 look like a dinosaur. (The low end one sucks, btw.) The whole demo was extraordinary! It even had NFC!

Now imagine this VWeber's, you get your significant seductress to shimmy down to skivvies and skin, low light, infrared focused, and snap away stills or HD video and load it immediately to the laptop and drop box. You edit and upload in minutes. The final product on the auto settings, assuming at least minimal composition skills can rival anything you see in the web methinks! Minor editing (Huge notation, ALWAYS remove your EXIF date folks! And if you feel compelled to Copy write it, puleeeze don't use the SAME copy write you use for everything else!)

The tech is amazing now and the quality of what an interested amateur can produce is extraordinary, and all the better for us all and the beauties who share themselves here!

Hi all - just back from a 7 day road trip going up to the Eastern side of Oregon, Western part of Idaho, across the Southern part of Idaho into Nevada. And across the Northern part of Nevada.

John - great pictures, I just love to see and would love to visit castles. Looks like a lot of fun especially with Berty and Rita or was it Ruth?

DD - sorry to hear about losing a friend. I know what it is like. I always try to remember the best of times I've had with friends.

John - you are so right, some very beautiful country up there in Idaho. I stopped to take a picture of one view but it didn't come out to do the view justice. If you ever get that way, go to Twin Falls, Idaho. They have a sight best seen in the spring time called Shoshone Falls. It is labeled as "the Niagara of the West". In the same area there is the I.B. Perrine Bridge. It spans the Snake River Canyon - 1500 feet long with a height of 486 feet about the canyon floor - quite a view! So Rita is still looking? :lol:

DD - no, I actually live in the central part of California - just South of San Francisco. Where I live to get to my destination which was Idaho, I had to go Northeast into Nevada, then up cutting through the southeastern part of Oregon into Idaho. I was visiting places along the Snake River which divides Oregon and Idaho. One of the places was a ghost mining town in Idaho - I have ancestors born and died at that ghost town. Only two building remain (somewhat standing) of a town that had over 1000 miners at one time.

Grump - didn't see the cotton tail and ears. Nice looking tail on Lady T. Yes, lots of crisscrossing in a short time. At least Idaho had much better scenery - Nevada was so boring. We got excited when we could see trees in the distance. Speed limits were so funny. In Nevada it was 75 and so was parts of Idaho. Oregon, same road it was 55 and strongly enforced.

You got that right about the speed limits in Oregon, jr. They certainly DO enforce it... especially if they see California plates on your car. :? I learned the hard way. So does Washington. I've only been to Idaho one time and that was to raft the Lochsa River.

John - this is the second time I've gone this way. A few years ago, I was with friends and he was driving. Didn't see the speed limit change at the border (or any several miles into Oregon), he got stopped and given a ticket. I was very aware and watching the signs.
