Political discussions about everything

President Barack Obama is not ready to accept a new offer from the Republican leader of the U.S. the House of Representatives to raise taxes on top earners of those making a million or more a year.

During the whole time Obama has said he wants to tax the millionaires. Now Obama says no, when he was talking about about millionaires he "meant" those making 250K or more.

Sooooo, Obama's talks of taxing millionaires with jets wasn't really about taxing the rich, it was about taxing working stiffs making good salaries.

Now how will Obama agrue this one? He can no longer argue he only wants to raise taxes on rich millionaires, he'll have to drop that line.

Those that believe that the deficit/debt can be reduced by following Obama's tax-the-rich dogma probably believe you can cure addiction to crack by increasing the availability of the drug...

The Federal government has an insatiable appetite for citizens wealth and the associated power, and that will not change by symbolic tax increase on 2% of the population. One that will generate enough money to run the government for a week or so.

Interestingly enough, since he rarely does anything but babble incoherent liberal/progressive hogwash, Howard Dean let the real plan see the light of day. Increases on taxes for everyone that remains stupid enough to work.

http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorial ... -ahead.htm

The Republicans are trying to keep the proverbial camel's nose from under the tent, but Obama and his cronies want to raises taxes on everyone but be able to blame that on the Republicans. Slick and dishonest at the same time -- in other words typical progressive.

The only way to significantly reduce the national debt is to raise taxes and cut spending. Everybody knows it but unfortunately everybody is in denial. It if were up to me, I think we should fall off the fiscal cliff and take out medicine now rather than later.

Actually the United States is raising more revnuey through taxes ever in history, the problem is "spending". Although Obama calls for a few cuts in areas such as our defense he calls for increases in spending in just about every other area, he's actually calling for money spending in 2013 than in 2012, he also talking about more stimulus spending and doing away with debt limits all together. We all know where the problem is and it's not because we don't enough money.
#15940
If you want spending cuts then you need to convince the people that taxing the middle class for the benefit of the wealthy as we now do is going to end.

You have to convince the wage eraner that taxing their revenues at a high rate while you tax the wealthy person's profits at a low rate is going to end.

You have to convince the people that corporations will stop getting a huge tax break by being allowed to manipulate their earnings (profits). That you are going to stop subsidizing huge executive perks, benefits, and compensation.

This whole argument boils down to ending the entitlements and special privileges the wealthy have given themselves.

Wealth pays taxes on profits not revenue

Wealth pays a lower tax rate on those profits,

Wealth gets to manipulate those profits, hide much of those profits, and and spend on themselves tax free on much of their profits.

Is their a class war?" Surely, the wealthy have been waging it for ages. Now morons complain about the defenseless middle class fighting back.

A typical family making 500,000.00 pays 50X's more taxes than a typical family making 50,000.00. Why not just 10X's more? To say they're not paying their fair share is silly. The rich are already being raped by the Government, even if you rape them more by taking more money, that money would be spent within a week...then what?
#15946
Since Bilbo is avoiding answering my question, I'll you what happen when the Obama Administration goes through the increased taxes from the rich within a week...they'll empliment Howard Dean's plan and start raping "everyone" to squeeze more tax money so they can continue to increase the size of Government and spending. It's all about having the Government in control of "everything" in the United States, the people will become servants of the Government living a very low standard of living handing the fruits of their labor over to their masters...unless they are part of the loyal inner circle of upper Government. Those who question their authority will be deemed a threat to the Government and branded criminals.

So Bilbo, you still think raping the rich a little harder will cure what ails the United States at the moment?

I call BULLSHIT

Show the real stats.

BTW, When tax rates were 91%, how did Millionaires survive and the middle class grow and so few were in the poor class?

   Never happened, never will. If you take all the profits from operating a business, the business not only doesn't hire, they fire. The only ones living in the middle class would be Government workers living off ot the taxes. the majority of non Government workers would be the servants living in poverty.

Sooo, you think that folks that risk their capital should be taxed on their revenue stream regardless of whether there is a profit. That implies that there should be NO allowance for recovery of expenses. Really?

I live near a medium size city that thought this would be a great idea. They imposed a Business and Occupation tax that taxed the 'revenue', regardless of whether there was a profit. Worked great for about 5 years. Then, as time to make decisions about remodeling or upgrading facilities, the migration started. There are now virtually no high-cash-flow businesses left except a handful of grocery stores. Lowe's left. Walmart left. Kmart left. There are NO new-car dealerships within the city limits and few used car lots. No department stores.

On the bright side, the suburbs are doing quite well.

Now before you say, 'well, if it is national then the rich can't move' then consider what has just happened in France.

America Prospered in the 1950s With a 91-percent High-End Tax Rate
By MARC McDONALD

It just goes to show you that in the modern era, Americans have memories that stretch back no more than 15 minutes.

During the 1950s, America had a 91 percent high-end tax rate. If the 50s had been a dismal economic decade, then it could stand as "Exhibit A" for the GOP to use in attacking high tax rates today.

But in reality, it was an extremely prosperous decade for America. In fact, it was a prosperous decade for the great majority of Americans (in contrast to the past three decades, which have seen only the Top One Percent prosper). In fact, in many ways, the 1950s was a truly golden decade. While it wasn't, of course, perfect, the 1950s seems like a million miles away from today's Third World-like America.

In the 1950s, American workers made the highest wages in the world. We also enjoyed the best workers' benefits and the longest vacations. Most high-tech products were made in America. I'm not sure what the world's top 10 corporations and top 10 banks were in the 50s. But I'd bet they were all American.

American had a trade SURPLUS in the 50s. The dollar was strong. The U.S. middle class was the envy of the world. The U.S. made the best cars in the world. America's manufacturing base and infrastructure were second to none. U.S. public schools trounced their counterparts worldwide. Nations around the world regularly sent representatives here to study how we did it.

The 1950s was the decade that America became AMERICA, the superpower. We really were No. 1 back in the 50s. Today, we're only No. 1 in the minds of the "Rah Rah U.S.A.!" jingoistic retards of the Tea Party.

And all of this with a high-end 91 percent income tax rate.

Today's Republicans condemn Obama's attempts to raise the tax rate even modestly. They'd have us believe that even a small increase in taxes on billionaires would be disastrous for the U.S. economy.

The GOP, as usual, relies on the ignorance of the American public. I mean, how many people even know that the high-end tax rate was ever as high as 91 percent in the U.S.? I talk to Republicans all the time who're convinced that tax rates today are the highest they've ever been in U.S. history. Credit the Great GOP Noise Network of Fox/Drudge/Rush for dumbing down tens of millions of Americans.

Today's Republicans are always babbling on about "What Would Reagan Do?" (In fact, Reagan himself raised taxes on 11 occasions).

I find it interesting, though, how the Republicans never consider "What Would Eisenhower Do?" I find it interesting how they ignore the wisdom of Eisenhower, a true American hero who won World War II for America and then presided over the booming, prosperous 1950s.

Today's Republicans completely ignore Ike. Instead they worship at the altar of Reagan, a mediocre president, a lousy B-movie actor, and a coward who never set foot outside of Hollywood during World War II.

The GOP worships at the altar of a man who had contempt for international law, who presided over a White House that illegally sold arms to terrorists in Iran and then used the money to fund terrorists in Central America. Oh, and Reagan more than tripled the national deficit, leaving America with the ever-growing multi-trillion dollar deficits that plague the U.S. to this day.

One wonders what Eisenhower would have made of today's GOP. I'd suspect he would be sickened by today's Republicans, who want to roll back the New Deal. In fact, he called those who would abolish Social Security "stupid."

"Should any political party attempt to abolish Social Security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
---President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1954

...contrary to all of today's "expert" economic opinion, the nation prospered despite a high-end 91-percent income tax rate.

And a lot of working Americans shared in that prosperity, (unlike any "prosperity" America has seen since the late 1970s).
"Figures Don't Lie; Liars Figure."

I knew you couldn't come up any real data to support the nut case's liberal spin. :D

Fact is the GOP outed Obama, Obama said he only wanted to increase taxes on millionaires, they said OK lets do it and Obama folds.

Facts can't be disputed with unsupported liberal talking points.
#16049
OK, it's official we're going over the cliff. Obama said taxing just the millionaires not enough, Reid said he won't even bring the GOP offer up for a vote, in fact Senate going home for the holidays and Obama off to Hawaii. As a result the GOP has pulled back their offer.

I hope you guys heeded my advise and put your financials and investments in order, if you haven't prepare to lose your asses. As far as you Obamabots that depend on entitlements, have a Merry Christmas...

Dance, Marco! Dance!

From numerous updates sourced from 'Inches,' 'Log Cabin Dreams,' and the RNC homepage; "Increasingly balding and Rubenesque GOP boy-toy, Marco Rubio has announced that he will be taking his "Mitt Chose Wrong" tour to the Pacific Northwest region of the United States where he hopes to finally meat and meat famed Poli Board short-busser, Justme and Justme's whack-buddy, Freedman, at a strip-mall dedication.

"Justme has been wrong about everything he's ever posted," the perpetually glistening senator from Florida breathlessly told a bank of microphones that all resembled tumescent peni, "but he reminds me of myself in a chubby way. Not only is his body soft and spongy, but so is what little there is of his brain."

The perpetually speedo-trunked senator from Florida also went on to say that he hoped Shimmer would be available to discuss some really hot real estate deals and that gender-confused sith lord, Dark Jedi Lady or something like that, would be there to discuss advertising space and campaigns on the Death Star.

"It's a fantasy CUM troo," Justme typed with one hand while the other stirred his grubby nether-regions. "Young Marco is hot. SMOKIN hot!"

GOP doesn't call Obama's plan with a disingenuous plan of middle class attrition. They can't even agree on how they will rape the middle class. The Republican Party is a tail wags the dog party and they are now finding out that there is nothing more than an leakyasshole running the party with no brains evident what-so-ever.
