We have already sent out over $52,000 of reimbursement to past winners.

We will not send out any payouts to winners residing within the US if they dont provide us with a valid SSN and address. Winners from outside the US are exempt from this and this is from a real tax accountant.

Diego, maybe you missed the dozen threads a couple of months ago, but the tax code was shown to have exemptions. VW has a real tax accountant that is trying to make his life easy, and damn the contributors.

There are legal workarounds to the SSN issue. One is those with limited prizes never need to hand out their SSN. The other is for VW to withhold the maximum tax rate from the award, and the taxes are paid up front without VW ever getting ahold of SSNs. It is then up to the taxpayers to declare using the 1099 for any refund owed. Others also suggested using TINs. And the simplest way is to have a Canadian employee write the checks to US citizens, and he can even do it on-line with a US bank account.

VW has a big black mark from the June happenings, and trust is at an all-time low. If VW had problem protecting RC passwords, how should one feel about providing them personal information?

Fire your real tax accountant and hire a tax lawyer as someone thinking about the contributors rather than making the tax books look pretty.

and lastly, $52G? There are still some contributors still trying to get paid. That is unacceptable. We already know the June winners are not getting paid. They were merged into the July rounds. The May winners are getting screwed it seems as well. So why not screw others, too?

Do the right thing for the contributors. Is that so much to ask?

Every law enforcement agency warns to never give SSN to anyone (especially on the internet).

The Motor Vehicle Departments used to ask for a SSN to get a driver license but that was outlawed many years ago.

No good and fair answer given for May or June. Excuses are not answers.

There are other ways than requiring people giving out privacy matters like SSNs. You have chosen to elect only one way. You can close your eyes to real solutions, but in doing so, your big announcements of prize awards should include a disclaimer that warns contributors they will have to provide you their real name, address,and SSN. The address is something that most realize in order to get a check. Easy enough to use an alias for their name, and sign the check over to themselves. But few will know when they submit their contri that they will need to give up their SSN to a porn site. Honesty requires this to be stated up front.

Why do I care? Why do you care I care? Anyone who has frequented the BB over the years knows I've always been an advocate for the contributors. Some of the contributors you are screwing over have become friends of mine. Some I've helped with their contri, too. I'm not here for money. What an insult to think that my reason is for personal monetary considerations. Unless VW can demonstrate fairness, how can anyone recommend submitting here? VW just becomes like all those other copyrat sites out there. That is my motivation.

On a different topic, I have found VW doesn't load on my laptop at all anymore. I get partial images and grey. Works fine on a tablet or android phone but the laptop not at all. I am sure I am not alone.

You may not be out of the woods with it completely so I wish you well and encourage you to continue following up with someone competent in African diseases. I will risk trying to mediate the May/June/July prizes issue because I think the solution is quite simple and it is a silly thing to keep arguing about.

Combining July with August was a perfectly reasonable thing to do under the circumstances -- those contestants got to participate in a contest that was differently timed, but also with weaker "competition" because most contributors were leery of posting at that point. VW may be technically in the wrong here, having continued to promise "monthly" contests, but they were operating under massive stress and confusion and I think we can cut them a little slack. There is nothing to be done about the first 9 days of June. Shit happens.

The May winners list produced by Igor appears reliable and has not been substantively challenged by anyone that I have heard. So what if it was produced by Igor? Facts are facts regardless of whether you like the source. Unfortunately, WiS, RC, and EiP did not come through on that list, and would require some extrapolation using the May 23rd rankings, what contributors claim to have won, and what they remember each other as having won (most of us do pay attention). If this hasn't been done then FAQ is right it should have been done long ago before memories faded. On the other hand, contributors themselves could have initiated such a process publicly in the forums, instead of communicating only with FAQ and hoping that he could represent them.

So score one for for FAQ and one for Diego and let's put this one to bed, please.

May contests could either use VW's rankings of the 23rd, Igor's recovered rankings, or accept the contributor's claim since VW has no means to refute them (other than calling them liars). These claims need to be paid, and publicly acknowledged. People should have a chance to file their claims beyond some ten second window Ghost granted. VW seems to be dragging their heels in hopes memories fade. Trust issues will remain.

July competition was opened, albeit late in the month. But VW extended an offer for a July contest; some contributors accepted the offer by submitting; a contract was formed. Now, VW attempts to unilaterally cancel that contract by merging it with August. Yes, a perfectly reasonable thing to do BEFORE making the July contest offer public and having others accept the terms. This is Contract Law 101.

June is at least debatable whether one can reasonably expect VW to honor any claims. It was Ghost's actions that wipe out the June May and June standings. Igor was gone when Ghost decided to pull the plug without adequate backups. Contract law would require payment, but I've not heard anyone complain about the contest getting canceled. Since I do have not posts or emails from contributors asking for help in the June contests, this one is less important. May and June are - and the previous months that some still have not received their award payments.

Of course, Diego can stand by Ghost's decision to reject any May-July claims. He then accepts the same level of trust and respect given to Ghost for such terrible decisions.

And please note Gattina's post about having to send personal information to multiple people at VW, only to have them disappear and for VW to require her to continually resend the same information.

Everyone has different schedules. My winter months are especially packed. Getting my FB time extended in the winter is like giving away free ice in the winter. Not much is needed. Thanks, but no thanks.

And even when I attempted to get access restored, no word. Nothing. Silence. If it were just me, I'd think, fine, Ghost black balled me. But when others email me with the same complaint, I know it is something more. FB and RC accounts inaccessible.

Really? Seems a few are willing to publicly call you out on this one. Some in private - how do I know? BC-field. You want to try again?

Igor was not running PA nor MFF. John over at PA webmaster BB had no real knowledge of VW, and made claims that Igor was not in charge of PA at all. All Igor wanted was some webspace for some contributors to have FRC accounts open to RC members. That deal got twisted and spun by PA. Igor called it quits on the GWS section when PA was promoting huge porn producers and not helping the original intended FRC webmasters. Everything tumbled. PA was a house of cards. Those checks were not from VW or Igor, but rather from PA. Nikki's case was a special one, but you would never have known that.

4. "I have also never neglected a single email that has hit my box."

Apparently some contributors differ on that statement. If you do not know how to manage your spam folder, try enrolling in a Internet 101 course at a community college. Sorry for the snarky remark, but if that is your excuse, you deserve it. One email, I'd give you a pass. But I personally know of several from different contributors. Of course, deleting an email without any action could be saying you did not neglect the email itself, but then we go back to the trust issues.

When you answer these adequately, we can go on with more instances.

We received on 7th we only have to cash them. Please next time write in a correct way the address, u have the info in our emails. Then u put in the note of the checks the name of the website and\or the name of contri and that's a violation of privacy. Hoping no one of the bank will ask something about.

Our checks in the past never had this sort of info listed. Yes so someone has to hope we don't know the bankteller....lol. But seriously its awkward and maybe just put the info on the check stub and not the actual check.

Also as a suggestion in the past if you would win a prize our email would have a contri number, title of contri, and the email would state the amount we were winning.....the emails now just say you have won a monetary prize and that is about it....there is no clarification on what we are being paid. More clarification would be nice.

I cannot believe this has happened again! Ghost wrote the contri names on the checks in August and I went ballistic and was promised (by both him and Dice) that this would never happen again. A competent business operation has established and documented procedures so that staff turnover does not have to result in a constant reinvention of the wheel.

As I pointed out the first time this happened, it is symptomatic of a serious failure to understand the contributor's perspective. Confidentiality is for most of us a paramount concern in taking the calculated risk to "expose" ourselves in this way. Staff dealing with contributors should be constantly and vigilantly aware of this principle. Nothing delivered by postal service should ever contain information indicating the connection with a pornography operation, lest the item accidentally fall into the hands of a relative, neighbor, etc., or an acquaintance via the bank deposit.

As if to reinforce the argument I have already been making, this incident seems so obviously to be another piece of evidence that VW is operationally dysfunctional at this time, because the management of the "people" side of the business is not being handled by staff who understand it and can focus on it exclusively. How can it be that "prizes," which previously required a dedicated staff member (ghost, Dice), can suddenly be handled on the side by Diego while he is busy managing the entire technical recovery effort?! Does VW management view this function as an incidental sideline? Well, then you will keep getting the same mistakes being made like this.

I have not wanted to say this before, because I wish it wasn't true, but the letter containing our contri-labeled check and letter signed VoyeurWeb in August was opened by my wife, who was so horrified by the confidentiality risks it entailed that I will most likely never be able to convince her to contribute to this site, or perhaps to any site, ever again. So you have probably lost at least this particular contributor by this very same means.
