Trump spent charity’s money on his legal bills

Donald Trump spent $258,000 from his charity to settle business fines and lawsuits, according to a report Tuesday.

Not only did the GOP nominee fail to donate to his own charity since 2009, he used other people’s charitable donations to solve legal troubles at his for-profit businesses, the Washington Post reported.

In one example, Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club owed $120,000 in unpaid fines in 2007 over a flagpole dispute.

In a settlement, Palm Beach officials agreed to waive the fine for a $100,000 donation to a veterans charity.

Trump also wrote a $158,000 check from the Trump Foundation to settle a lawsuit involving one of his golf courses in New York to the plaintiff’s specified charity.

A lawyer who advises charities called the findings disturbing.

“I represent 700 nonprofits a year, and I’ve never encountered anything so brazen,” Jeffrey Tenebaum, a lawyer at Venable law firm in Washington, told the newspaper.

“If he’s using other people’s money — run through his foundation — to satisfy his personal obligations, then that’s about as blatant an example of self-dealing [as] I’ve seen in a while.”

Trump also spent $10,000 from the foundation for another portrait of himself at a charity fundraiser in 2014, adding to the $20,000 portrait purchased in 2007, the Washington Post said.

The Trump Foundation has been funded exclusively by other donors since 2009. Pro-wrestling executives Vince and Linda McMahon have been prominent backers by giving $5 million from 2007 to 2009.

The Washington Post said the Trump campaign declined comment.

The campaign didn’t immediately respond to e-mails from the New York Post.

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina says that “so little” of the charitable donations to the Clinton Foundation “actually go to charitable works” — a figure CARLY for America later put at about 6 percent of its annual revenues — but Fiorina is simply wrong.

Fiorina and others are referring only to the amount donated by the Clinton Foundation to outside charities, ignoring the fact that most of the Clinton Foundation’s charitable work is performed in-house. One independent philanthropy watchdog did an analysis of Clinton Foundation funding and concluded that about 89 percent of its funding went to charity.

Simply put, despite its name, the Clinton Foundation is not a private foundation — which typically acts as a pass-through for private donations to other charitable organizations. Rather, it is a public charity. It conducts most of its charitable activities directly.

In a sick way, you almost have to admire the cynicism of the Clintons.

They are so corrupt that they used a charity to get salaries, offices, technology, security, health care, lodging, and travel for themselves.

Did the Clinton Foundation ever give to any charity? Well, sure, they had to in order to keep the vast example of public corruption going at all.

The Clinton Foundation stands as the biggest example of public corruption in U.S. history.

Teapot Dome, Watergate, they look tiny and petty compared to the enormous, open, ongoing corruption of the Clintons.
