Briarcliff Manor, New York (CNN)Donald Trump sought Tuesday to quell the intensifying criticism over his comments about the impartiality of a federal judge, saying his remarks had been "misconstrued."

In a lengthy statement, Trump tried to explain his comments about federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing a lawsuit on Trump University. Trump, who had accused the Indiana-born Curiel of bias because of his Mexican heritage, said in his statement that he does not believe "one's heritage makes them incapable of being impartial."

No, heritage alone doesn't.

The judge is a member of the Hispanic bar association which condemned Trump in the summer of 2015 and even urged a boycott of him.

The judge is biased because of his pro-illegal immigrant beliefs.

And no, the judge will not treat him fairly, nor would Sotomayor on the Supreme Court.

But Democrats ALWAYS ACCUSE OPPONENTS OF RACISM.

If Trump had an issue then his lawyers should have said so before...but they didn't. Now Trump is bitching after the fact?

Stupid asshole!

So where's the back peddling?

As is so often the case with Elkin, his opening posts were dishonest.

That particular judge has often touted his "Mexican heritage," has rewarded an illegal immigrant kid with a scholarship, and is a member of a Hispanic bar assn which urged a Trump boycott just last year.

How could this judge be fair to Trump?

He wouldn't be.

Bear in mind, liberals nominated judges BECAUSE OF their bias, not in spite of it.

In fact, if O’Melveny were to file a recusal motion, according to two law professors and three private lawyers specializing in legal ethics, Trump’s lawyers would expose themselves to sanctions under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and to discipline by state bar associations.

The media, Trump haters and then GOP big shots like Ryan (who never wanted Trump as nominee in the first place)....wasted no time in condemning Trump for his comments......

Well, if their intention was to show it's OK to be illegal and they are free to stay and take...then it worked.

Here in Texas, a recent HS graduate received a FULL scholarship to YALE ...

and before she left the stage, revealed she was illegal..to the astonishment of school officials!
