2008:
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun."
Obama made those remarks at a fundraiser in Philadelphia during the 2008 presidential ...

I am "SHOCKED!!" "SHOCKED!!", that Obama would say such a terrible thing in public!

As we can all see, johnforbes still hasn't learned about "context" and "metaphor" in his remedial English classes.
Metaphor is one of those mysterious attributes of intelligent speech that liberals naturally understand and literal-minded reactionaries stare at slack-jawed and glassy-eyed and then pee their pants as they throw a hissy fit.
Being literal minded, "context" is simply beyond their grasp entirely.

But the lamestream media has been upset at Trump.
After 7 years of harsh rhetoric and race-baiting from the Left...

If I recall correctly Obama was in Philadelphia at the time.....
and claims he said it because it's the language people in "Philly" understand..
Obama got a pass and Clown sees nothing wrong with it ...
so for Trump it should be a non issue too....don't you agree Clown..?

Obama assured donors and voters that he's been schooled by Chicago politics. "I'm skinny but I'm tough, I want you to argue with them and get in their face"' "The days of asking for respect is over, it's time to act"

The point is, sillydaddy, he wasn't accusing Republicans of literally bringing knives to political fights, and he certainly wasn't suggesting anyone literally bring a gun, in Philadelphia or anywhere else.
It means that if someone gets tough with you, you ratchet it up and get even tougher back. You don't just let them get away with it.
Trump, on the other hand, is one of the literal-minded and he means what he says literally.
So no, I don't see anything wrong with what Obama said in that quotation.
Only literal-minded simpletons don't understand metaphor.
And Tool, that's a good quote from Obama you found. There's nothing wrong with arguing with people and getting in their faces if they're ignoring you and disrespecting you in politics.
No one should have to beg for what's rightfully theirs already.

Wrong again Dull Rusty Tool AssClown Loser Lucky the cripple. Respect isn't given, it must be earned. And neither you or your messiah, the Dear Leader Hussein Obozo has ever done anything to earn respect. He got everything handed to him by white liberals desperate to assuage their white liberal guilt. And you've accomplished nothing from your wheel chair except to spew your rage and hate for everyone who has more than you. Including being able to satisfy a woman.
I've asked your fellow banish-ee Grog this a few times and it twists his guts so badly he never answers. Which reaction from beautiful women do you find most soul crushing? The ones who pretend to not see you in your chair, the ones who quickly avert their eyes at your sad condition, or the ones who look at you with pity in their eyes?
At least you have images here on VW that you can mentally masturbate to.
I'd tell you to dance for me now, but that's out of the question, isn't it? So go ahead and do that emoticon thing you think is so effective.

So when Sarah Palin put out her campaign signs with targets on them, indicating that these were the seats to win, or better yet the candidates to beat, well...that was OK, right? According to your explanation, right?
She was vilified by the left. But you explain the "same thing" away when B.O. says it.

To his credit, Democrat operative Bob Beckel said that he and other Democrats first used the "target" image to go after Republicans they thought were vulnerable to defeat.
Bottom line, Obama has said many inflammatory things over his campaign and then the 7 years he has ruled.

Let's come at this from another angle, sillydaddy...
Let's say there are some literal minded people in the Democrat crowd and they hear that they are to literally bring out a gun if a Republican literally brings out a knife.
Well, no Republican brings out a literal knife at a political rally. I've never heard of it.
So if no knife appears, no Democrat would 'need' to bring out a gun, would they?
(But if a literal knife DID appear, we all hope there is a concealed carry patriot there to take them out, right? :o )
But we already know there are literal minded folks in the Republican crowd. (The earth was created in 7 days, for example.) That's one of the reasons they are conservative and not liberal. Some are already reactionary about their guns and get downright fanatical about them.
The cross hairs on the politicians' faces, though technically, metaphorically OK to thinking people, target specific politicians with a specific weapon (a sniper rifle) and it's accompanied with specific instructions from a specific candidate to "target" that candidate.
No, I don't think the majority of Republicans will then start thinking about assassinations. But it only takes one or two people with mental problems (out of millions of people, remember) to start thinking he's helping the cause by indulging his delusions. It's only a matter of time when mentally ill people are goaded long enough to trigger their dangerous behaviors. It's predictable statistically.
I have no problem in theory with the cross hairs symbol on something like a "Vote NO on Initiative 235" 'pro-gun rights' billboard or some other inanimate thing.
But even that is bound to bring out some gun nut to literally use the billboard for target practice some night.
That's not a good thing for the political argument, and it's not a good thing for public safety.

Dull Rusty Crippled Tool AssClown Loser Lucky is unable to refute a single point in my post. Which constitutes total capitulation and full acceptance of all my assertions ever directed at him.
His handlers are reevaluating any further value to them he may have.
Not even a thermonuclear emoticon blast can save him now.
He has been owned, used up, worn out and discarded.
