Ben Carson says he would have charged Oregon community college gunman

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said Tuesday that he would have attacked the gunman who killed nine people at an Oregon community college last week.

"I would not just stand there and let him shoot me," Carson told "Fox and Friends". "I would say 'Hey, guys, everybody attack him! He may shoot me but he can't get us all."

The retired neurosurgeon added that he probably would not have visited Roseburg, Ore., where the Umpqua Community College shooting took place, if he were president because that would inject politics into a tragedy.

would be shooting at him...but there were no wars going on at the time...so he didn't enlist.

So what exactly was wrong with what the man said he would do in that situation Elk? He said he would have tried to fight back? Defend himself? Save the lives of others? What should he have done according to you?

You would be dead if you did nothing or charged the shooter as Carson claims.

So what was his point? Other than trolling for votes...

The point Carson was making was the same as "Let's roll."

Instead of waiting meekly to be the next victim, the general rule should be to look for an opportunity to close the distance and take the psychopath down.

A boxer, like a shooter, can only function with a certain distance. If you've ever studied judo or jiu-jitsu, you learn to close this distance to give yourself the best chance.

I recall when airline hijackings were happening almost every week.

Then the passengers got involved and the hijackings stopped.
