As if traffic tickets don't generate enough revenues...

If Oklahoma lawmakers get their way, fashion could soon actually become a crime.

Republican Senator Don Barrington is introducing an amendment bill this February to the South Central state that seeks to ban people from wearing hooded sweatshirts, also known as hoodies, in public.

The act would amend a previous law enacted in 2011, which made it illegal to wear a hoodie or disguise while committing a crime. Now Barrington wants to make it illegal for people to "intentionally conceal his or her identity in a public place by means of a robe, mask, or other disguise."

"The intent of Senate Bill 13 is to make businesses and public places safer by ensuring that people cannot conceal their identities for the purpose of crime or harassment," Barrington told Oklahoma's KFOR-TV.

"Similar language has been in Oklahoma statutes for decades and numerous other states have similar laws in place," he added. "Oklahoma businesses want state leaders to be responsive to their safety concerns, and this is one way we can provide protection."

The law would exempt children on Halloween, masquerade party guests, public parade revelers, medical professionals, people wearing covering for religious purposes and circus performers, among others, according to the act.

But anyone else found violating the ban would face a fine between $50 and $500, a maximum of one year in prison, or both.

Obviously, we would all want to preserve the few freedoms remaining in tightly controlled America.

However, the dilemma was apparent in Missouri not long ago, where people wearing ski masks and hooded sweatshirts were demonstrating and some of them looted stores.

Anybody who runs outside, or does pretty much anything, with a hood up is taking a risk because the hood restricts peripheral vision.

It also might slightly less auditory cues.

When you see somebody jogging with earphones in, much less with a hooded sweatshirt, you are noting a person who is foolish.

It's about 15 degrees outside, so fine people 500 bucks for trying to keep warm.

Conservatism at it's finest!!!

Every cop and law abiding citizen knows to look for the nigger in the hoodie first.

That's just common sense.

An earband made of Polartec is the way to keep the head warm.

An ordinary cotton ballcap, with a Polartec earband, and perhaps a Polartec facemask in serious cold, is the way to go running in winter.

Hoods limit vision, and can slightly lessen auditory cues, so hoods are not safe.

We aren't talking about running, dimwit.

You can give us all the running-related crap you want and it will still have nothing to do with the issue of regular people wearing regular clothes doing regular things like walking or standing on a cold, windy, or rainy day.

It is dim not to understand that people who have experience outdoors understand about how to dress, and function, in it.

It is very dim not to realize that your peripheral vision is limited by most hoods.

Ghetto kids don't wear hooded sweatshirts for warmth anyhow; the idea is to intimidate.

Of course, Mighty Mouse could intimidate Clownhacker.

A suburban sissy such as Elkindope, or the scrawny pothead Clowntoker, only ventures outside for a few minutes every week to take the toter to the curb.

Elkindolt and Clownslacker wear shorts in winter and hooded sweatshirts like all the kids who waste away their days in the basement of the parental shack playing video games.
