According to rushbo, a black man can't be 007 because they all used to be white guys. Even though the best arbiters of talent over at Sony say otherwise...

Well, the current Bond is that sawed-off fellow who isn't handsome and the Bond movies these days have cartoonish violence.
So they have already ruined the Bond franchise.

I agree with you. The most recent Bond films have shown a significant deterioration in sophistication and the plot has been awful. My wife doesn't like Craig or Brosnan, and she couldn't understand why Limbaugh had an issue with a black guy being Bond. James Bond as a character transcends race, the character is race neutral, hopefully if they cast Elba, perhaps they can revive the franchise. He's a very good actor...

I'm just bull shitting of course. Burroughs makes it quite clear Tarzan is descendant of the upper crust of British society, and Ian Fleming created James as half Scottish and half Swiss.
Race neutral?.....I don't think so.

If memory serves, Ian Fleming said his Bond character resembled the young Hoagy Carmichael.
