COFF How to Forum and VW FAQ's

I think this thread may help all of us enjoy the Forum threads and VW in general, a bit more. Several people have asked me personally questions on how to post here, and ask in the open threads as well. Some things simply are not obvious, even to people who are accustomed to posting within the forums.

I'm not a web programmer but I do know a few things or so I'm told...

I think the thread will be easier to use if you post a question in bold, maybe make the type larger, maybe a color?

If you have an answer to a question, use the small quote in the top right corner of the question to add a quote to the top of your reply.

Let's see how it works?

And if it's useful, post a picture! That will make the thread fun to read and be a nice "thank you" to the guy or gal who answers the question!

By no means do I insist or suggest then anybody do anything they don't want to, that's just a thought and I personally am happy to help anyone who needs it, without any sort of reward for it.

How to create a link so it says what you want and hides the hyperlink.....

We used to have a great little embedded link with all the home coding in it. Igor cost us that too.

See I made a link to Dilbert
Try this,

Making a text Link only:

what word you want to use goes here

It's a bit of extra work but pretty easy.

OK, I have a question,

Why do some attachments show the file name and some don't?

I would like to hide the file name sometimes or replace it with a caption but I can't figure it out?? Also, why do some show the whole picture and others just crop to the top part, or with larger pictures just a corner? It just seems inconsistent and I wonder??

Hmmm, I have no idea. Maybe it's a. Mac v Windows v browser thing? Or a settings for your account or how you manage the post itself. I don't seem to see a pattern myself. I agree I would like more control over that. I like the full sized images a lot more than a window. Perhaps it is a me size issue? as for the captioning, again, no idea. Perhaps another will know?

Now that I've noticed this pic ID discrepency it's going to drive me nuts! Time to research......!

My suggestion would be to have each image by default open full size in a new window only if it's too wide to fit here in the confines of the page. And here, a full image posted at a small enough size to fit.

I'm sure Diego will drop everything and hop right on that! Ha!!

You can always rename the file at any time on your computer, so you could change the name of the file or caption before attaching it to your post. Not sure about the sizing question, but I have noticed the larger the file size, the more it appears "cropped" until you click on it...

Huh now that I look back I do notice some posted pics with no name or caption at all. I'm stumped and honestly, I am not very computer savvy so I couldn't help out here anyway

Honora,

I know!

It's going to bug me until I figure it out now.

Another thing I noticed, some will show the number of views, others not. And more perplexing, placing one "in-line" seems to have no affect on these issues.

I would LOVE to see a larger sized "Cream Lingerie" personally..... (thats a hint lol!)

You too Miss M!
