More right wing ignorance

Miles O’Brien, the science correspondent for PBS Newshour, lamented on Sunday that he was embarrassed at some of the coverage of Ebola on Fox News that had a “racial component,” and seemed intended to scare viewers.

On the Sunday edition of CNN’s Reliable Sources, host Brian Stelter looked back at the last week’s coverage of Ebola on Fox News. In one case, Fox News host Elisabeth Hasselbeck seemed almost disappointed when an expert downplayed the threat of the disease in the United States.

“We’ve heard the words ‘Ebola in America,’ a lot the past few days,” Stelter noted. “It’s technically true. There is a case of Ebola here in America. But to say Ebola is here, doesn’t that sort of inflame people’s fears?”

“It borders on irresponsibility when people get on television and start talking that way when they should know better,” O’Brien explained. “They should do their homework and they should report in a responsible manner.”

“Unfortunately, it’s a very competitive business, the business we’re in, and there is a perception that by hyping up this threat, you draw people’s attention,” he added. “That’s a shame to even say that and I get embarrassed for our brethren in journalism.”

Stelter also pointed to Fox News host Andrea Tantaros, who had warned viewers that West Africans might come to the U.S. infected with Ebola, and then go to a “witch doctor” instead of the hospital.

“We could digress into what motivated that and perhaps the racial component of all this, the arrogance, the first world versus third world statements and implications of just that,” O’Brien remarked. “It’s offensive on several levels and it reflects, frankly, a level of ignorance which we should not allow in our media and in our discourse.”

Whew, even for PBS, that's lame.

So there are blacks in Africa, so any caution America takes re Ebola is racist?

That's moronic.

To say Obola is here is racist and inflames fears? It's a 100% true statement Obola is here although Obama assured us it couldn't happen. Plus this the same O'Brien who said Brown was shot with his hands up trying to surrender, talk about someone who should do their homework and report in a responsible manner. It's statements like O'Brien's that is resulting in less support for tax dollars for PBS by the day.

Ebola is scary stuff. So far there are two confirmed cases here in the US and there's another one on the way. These guys are getting top of the line treatment...because they are being watched by the media. What happens when the ordinary guy in the street gets it? Do think he is going to get the million dollar treatment?

Already that Dr Sacra is back in the hospital.......maybe he's still has it and now he's been out infecting others.

So what science credentials does Miles have?

Exactly, the whole CDC deployed on this one case in Texas and they looked like the keystone cops, mistakes were made left and right although they've admitted costs over $25 million... at this point. Now imagine outbreaks all at once in several parts of the country and the media stops camping out in front of the hospital on every case!

But hey Obama assured us there is very little chance it will ever reach the United States, so no need to worry. :?

Prolly be racing through the hoods first. Stay out of the airports. And run like hell if you see a dashiki or a kufi.

President Obola. :(

Isn't it true that science expert Miles doesn't even have an undergrad degree?

Isn't it true that his major was history before he dropped out?

So, in summary, he has no scientific credentials whatever.

Right now its a tossup between an Ebola epidemic in the U.S. and the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocents by ISIS that will turn out to be the legecy of the jug eared Marxist idiot.

Not surprising that Elkin, the "expert" on global warming, cites an "expert" like Miles.

You know Miles, who was a history major before dropping out to become a science "expert."

It's doesn't take a Ph.D in molecular biology to know that conservatives are nothing more a bunch of fear mongering lowlife assholes who are using Ebola because the talking points memo seems to be running a bit thin on content.

John Forbes has greater chance of winning a Darwin award than contracting Ebola...
