What does "real employment" suppose to mean?

So are all other metrics "fake employment?"

Elkin, didn't you say you had taken an econ course at some point?

Surely you understand concepts such as "real" and "nominal"?

It is the Dept of Labor which uses the word "real" -- not me.

What they mean is that, looking at those who have not sought a job in 31 days or more, the unempl rate is 11.8 percent.

The so-called "headline number" is very superficial, which is why journalists use it.

Place into context "real" and "nominal"

Del Shannon hasn't run away from more schooling opportunity than the arrogant, albeit lightly educated, Elkin.

Son, it isn't my aim to school stubborn young liberal dolts because it is a pointless endeavor.

Elkin, your ideology tells you everything you "need."

Because you are determined to never think beyond ideology, your learned will remain constricted.

Those of us who grew up in the ideational swirl of the 1960s and early 1970s learned quickly to see beyond people tossing rhetorical bombs, like Kerry with his idiotic and dishonest testimony to Congress in the 1970s.

Or you just don't want to say that the U-6 is another right wing talking point...

Elkin, you really are a juvenile moron.

I'm hardly a Right Winger, and I don't need -- or use -- "talking points."

As to the U-6, it is reported by the Dept of Labor, and the reason it does so is that it is extremely relevant to know what the true unemployment rate is.

It includes those who haven't looked for work in more than the past 31 days.

Every reasonable person, of any political stripe, is aware that a person who wants a job may have gotten discouraged or simply not sought a job formally for more than just the past 30 days.
