Unemployment

Well, "journalists" were surprised again by the U-6 unemployment rate rising to 12.2 percent.

That is the U-6, the Labor Dept's real rate.

It includes those who have not looked for work in more than 30 days -- the discouraged.

Even the jobs which are being created are low-wage service-sector jobs.

Thoughts?

"Thoughts?"-Dimwit

Well, clearly johnforbes didn't have any or he would have posted them.

I'll weigh in when a few more of you morans make fools of yourselves for your handlers.

(Now let's sit back and watch as johnforbes regurgitates one of his hackneyed obesity jokes on command like the stupid tool he is.)

Forbes pulls a cherry picked number out of his ass which means nothing in isolation.

No data interpretation nor putting the value in it's proper context...

Elkin, surely you have half a brain in your head?

Do you know what the U-6 is?

That is hardly any cherrypicked data. It is the Dept of Labor's own figure for "real" unemployment because it includes discouraged workers who merely didn't seek a job in the past 31 days.

From what I have seen, the both the U-6 and official employment rates are trending lower reflecting a strengthening economy.

So, Why did you pick u-6 as opposed to the 'official' employment rate?

What's your point?

The U-6 is an "official" unemployment rate!

The Dept of Labor calls it the "real" unemployment rate.

Why do I notice the U-6? Well, as an investor, I want to know how the economy is REALLY doing.

When you are investing, you are looking past partisan discord -- or you should be.

What is the real situation with the economy? I'd be delighted if the real unemployment happened to be only 6 percent. That would be too high still, but at least it would be in the ballpark of what is reasonable.

Now, are some of the unemployment situations due to globalism? Did some of this begin before Obama? Sure.

But Obama, and the Fed, materially worsened these trends.
