JERSEY CITY, N.J. – A gunman who killed a rookie officer responding to a report of an armed robbery at a drugstore early Sunday never tried to rob the store and instead lay in wait for police, telling a witness to watch the news because he was "going to be famous," authorities said.

Lawrence Campbell, 27, shot Officer Melvin Santiago in the head shortly after he and his partner arrived at the 24-hour Walgreens at around 4 a.m., Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop said. Other officers returned fire at Campbell, killing him.

Campbell, of Jersey City, was one of three suspects wanted by police for a prior homicide, Fulop said.

Fulop said Campbell was carrying a knife when he walked into Walgreens and asked for directions to the greeting card aisle. He assaulted an armed security guard at the store and snatched his gun, Fulop said. He waited for police to arrive, then shot Santiago with what police believe was the guard's weapon.

Campbell was stopped by a good guy with a gun.

I guess this thread is supposed to demonstrate that guns are the problem in America. That we have an out of control gun problem. What it really demonstrates to me is the stupidity and ignorance of the poster. I say ignorance because there is so much one must ignore to make such a silly little partisan argument. But partisan politics are for the stupid. Or little fascists like Elk.

Why no comments about the killer? He was already wanted for a previous murder. Why not consider the sneak attack on the security guard? The good guy. With a knife? Or the sneak attack on the LEO who was shot from behind through the back window while still in his vehicle? Or the victims families? Or the fact that the killer said he wanted and was going to be famous for killing a cop? Nothing about this being a mental health issue? A cultural issue? A socioeconomic consequence?

America does not have a gun problem or an out of control gun culture. America has a problem with the breakdown of the family, poverty, drugs, gangs, irresponsibility, and cultural rot. It is urban. It does not have a problem with millions of law abiding gun owners. Ignoring that for the sake of a partisan political agenda is fascist. But Elklindo isn't interested in anyone else's freedom.

This is hilarious for two reasons.
First, jophnforbes has NEVER been able to mount a serious argument and then follow up with a defense of his position.
If his position is questioned, he merely copy-and-pastes his previous post as his sole response. He is not capable of arguing his position. He can only pontificate.
He's intellectually impotent and proves it regularly by his inability to defend a position that he pompously states without supporting argument or evidence.

Secondly, there is no point in trying to discuss anything with you clowns. Whenever I have done so, whenever I have spent a half hour to formulate a well thought out post, including supporting links and evidence, the threads die because none of you are either interested or able to discuss a topic intelligently. You all just leave and go on to the next blathering knee-jerk talking point from your handlers. And johnforbes in particular pronounces platitudes which he can only C&P.
