Tropical Storm Arthur has formed east of Florida Tuesday morning with further strengthening likely as the system turns northward this week while hugging the East coast.
The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center projects the system could also become the season's first hurricane during the week of Independence Day as millions of people head to the beach for vacation.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Throughout California's desperately dry Central Valley, those with water to spare are cashing in.
As a third parched summer forces farmers to fallow fields and lay off workers, two water districts and a pair of landowners in the heart of the state's farmland are making millions of dollars by auctioning off their private caches.
The price spike comes after repeated calls from scientists that global warming will worsen droughts and increase the cost of maintaining California's strained water supply systems.

Skepticism is the proper posture with regard to any new scientific theory, particularly one pushed forward by politicians.
It made fat Al Gore mucho money, so that by itself would be reason to wonder.
Who was correct, the orthodoxy of the Inquisition or the upstart Galileo?
Who was correct, the geocentrists or the wild-eyed skeptics?

There's only one reason I believe Global Warming is true and real: Because conservatives insist it isn't.
If you want to know the truth, reality or basic decency of ANYTHING, go in the opposite direction of conservatives.

And.... another self C&P from Forbes, proving that once again he is the narcissist's narcissist.
Well illustrated, Forbes, well self-illustrated indeed.

Somebody above said the following.
It was so clearly phrased that it bears repeating here:

It made fat Al Gore mucho money, so that by itself would be reason to wonder.
Who was correct, the orthodoxy of the Inquisition or the upstart Galileo?

Ba-zing! Forbes is truly incorrigible and, he's unwittingly proud of being so!
This calls for another self C&P, Forbes!

No idea who said this above, but it was trenchant and utterly worthwhile. I learned a lot from it, and so could Grog if Grog were not so dumb.
