Obama doesn't believe in American exceptionalism

American survival rates for breast, prostate, thyroid and skin cancer are higher than 90 percent. Europeans do not have a 90 percent survival rate for one of those cancers.

The European rates are even worse than they sound because many cancers are not discovered until the victim's death -- twice as many as in the U.S. All those cancers were excluded from the study.

Canadian cancer survival rates aren't much better than the European rates -- and they've been able to sneak into to the U.S. for treatment! Women in the U.S. have a 61 percent survival rate for all cancers, compared to a 58 percent survival rate in Canada. Men in the U.S. have a 57 percent survival rate compared to 53 percent in Canada.

So across the world, we'll all be equal, dying of cancer, heart disease and diabetes as often as everyone else.

It's not that Obama doesn't believe in American exceptionalism; it's that he wants to end it.

Where the U.S. is exceptional is in the incidence of cancers.....the highest in the world, matched only by Australia, Norway, and France.

If cancer is not what's killing you, why should they care about the survival rates?

Obama doesn't believe America should be strong, and every step he has taken has diminished American greatness.

48 million on food stamps, 12 million illegals, 12 percent real unemployment, etc

Actually, I think we'll be dying of cancer, heart disease and diabetes more than anyone else because in the land of fat and plenty, we have more than our share of lazy, morbidly obese people.

There's your exceptionalism.

I agree that most Americans don't understand atherogenicity or aerobic exercise.

A meat-based diet is associated with higher incidence of colon cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, etc.

But avoiding meat isn't enough. Avoidance of high-fat diet generally helps avoid atherogenic changes.

Although it isn't perfect, the average person can assess his coronary artery calcium content via computerized axial tomography for about $600. No guarantee that a myocardial infarct won't occur at some future date, but a zero calcium content score suggests extremely little chance of one.
