Well the last movie theater in Detroit closed their doors and soon Detroit may have to close theirs. A glorious city turned into wasteland in a mere 50 years. Such are the wages of unadulterated liberal politics and Democrat voters. A city that built the planes which flattened Germany and Japan 60 years ago now more resembles a nuclear apocalypse than Hiroshima or Nagasaki, both of which are thriving free market metropolises today.

Detroit is a case study in modern liberalism yet our liberal friends want more, they want the full monty Leftism. The end stage of that disease is gloriously modeled by that utopia on earth known as North Korea.

Well at least Detroit is not alone, soon their misery will enjoy the company of Chicago, New York and California...

Grog, I didn't know you were so shallow? There was only one theater in Detroit that was making it without public assistance; now it's been forced to close it's doors as a private business, it's now open like the rest of them surviving with public handouts and being forced to only play "liberal" approved movies screened by the city.

Detroit is a cesspool, at one time it was a proud productive city, Grog may feel it's a utopia but he's wrong. Rather than admit it's a failure he tries to distract, shame, shame. :mrgreen:

Even the theaters have to be tax subsidized in Detroit to remain open. Unions sucked the city's tax payers dry under liberal leadership now the city wants Federal tax payers to foot the bills. Obama says it's the right thing to do, again.

The institute for the arts in Detroit, or whatever it is called, is a nice place.

But it may have to be closed.

There's a news story today about the emergency manager in Detroit not pleasing the bankruptcy judge.

He is a prime example of a rich elite abusing tax payers money on silly golf game perks, like taking Air force One to Florida to play a round of golf with Tiger Woods...twice last year. divermouse,......I have no problem blaming the guy making 60k because if he's a union member he's part of the problem too. Union members saw the corruption at the top but did nothing, instead they stood in line to take theirs too. Take the Teachers Union in Detroit...they have some of the highest teachers' salaries in the country. There was an anonymous donation of 200 million dollars made to the city for the purpose of establishing a charter school. The Teachers Union went on strike.....and did not go back to work until the donation was withdrawn.
It was discovered the Detroit Sewer and Water Dept. had a horse-shoer on the payroll paying him $86,000 a year plus bennies. The DSWD doesn't have horses!
Union members are allowed a generous amount of paid sick days each year. Yet the city must pay sick days even if the employees don't use them.
