a Gallup poll .. suggests many of the firearms that have been flying off the shelves in the past two years were purchased by Democrats and women.

Gallup found the number of Democrats willing to come out and admit to having a sidearm jumped to 40 percent. Since Mr. Obama’s inauguration, the ranks of gun-toting women swelled by 10 points to 43 percent.

This change has significant impact on policy. Nearly three out of four respondents opposed handgun bans - an all-time high. There are now more Democrats with guns than there are liberals who want to take them away. A half-century ago, the gun grabbers held sway over public opinion. Today, even misleading terms like “assault weapon” aren’t enough to scare up majority support for gun control.

You can't shot someone just because they hit you, to use deadly force you have be in danger of being killed, in this case it was just a slug and some laughter, the father is a victim of simple assault but will rightly fully be charged with attempted murder. I'm sure the jury will cut him some slack but he should be go to prison for a few years but no where near life.

There should be rules concerning when you can shot a person, hitting you one time as part of a juvenile game shouldn't give reason for a man to shot the kid. The kid should be punished for simple assault for hitting the man, but the shooter should be locked up for attempted murder. We live in a civilized country, not the wild west.

If some kids are such savages as to believe they can go around hitting people as a "game," then they should be prepared for the consequences.

Not true. The father was defending not only his life but the life of his child as well. If someone is being accosted by a thug, especially a black thug, and he has his small daughter with him, he certainly may use deadly force. In fact, he has a civic duty to use deadly force. Any jury will see it that way.
In the event, this father was not even charged, much less arrested, tried and convicted.
A few more dead black corpses on the street after an attempted game of "knock out" and this stupid activity will come to an end and the cities will be safer places.
