I wonder how many other moderate to centrist Republicans being forced out of the Republican Party will join a reasonably sane party?

Sadly this could lead in the short term to a single party system. That would be very bad, but the rational result of allowing extremists to take over a major political party. The result of the intentional co-opting of the worst of the nation into the Republican Party.
