One of the glitches that will be fixed, according to Insurance execs, is the underestimating of premiums by the website.

Two points:

1. Why did we have to hire a Canadian company to design the website? Are there no USA companies smart enough to do this job? More USA dollars leaving the country.

2. Our elected officials were so interested in making political points, they pretty much let the website developers off the hook. When asked if they thought they had done a good job, they said yes. No one nailed them to the wall for that comment. As one Congressman said, "ProFlowers doesn't crash on Valentine's Day."

Another point. The House intentionally under funded the project in order to produce just this effect, and then the sequester.

Money counts.

Medicare Part D had such problems.

SS had roll out problems.

This is the biggest mess I know about, but it is not uncommon.

The Pentagon and the Vets Admin still can't exchange data after over a decade. I have done projects like this with 10 people in 2 years with cooperation of the tech people at our customer sites. We use rapid development techniques. Most shops use waterfall development techniques which take far longer and far more people, but you end up with documentation first rather than last and user interfaces last rather than first.

Given limitless taxpayer money to throw at the problem the web site will get fixed by somebody in the private sector.

The real problems, for those who support Obamacare, are the premiums and deductibles.

Every federal program costs too much, and Obamacare is very far from "affordable" for the folks it is aimed at.

On Medicare Part D software glitches:
"You must understand that their will always be a few glitches on starting up such a huge program. One must be patient and understand that these glitches will be fixed and the software and the program will work just fine."
