GOP government shutdown has backfired

The Republican Party has been badly damaged in the ongoing government shutdown and debt limit standoff, with a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finding that a majority of Americans blame the GOP for the shutdown, and with the party’s popularity declining to its lowest level.

By a 22-point margin (53 percent to 31 percent), the public blames the Republican Party more for the shutdown than President Barack Obama – a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the poll during the last shutdown in 1995-96.

Just 24 percent of respondents have a favorable opinion about the GOP, and only 21 percent have a favorable view of the Tea Party, which are both at all-time lows in the history of poll.

And one year until next fall’s midterm elections, American voters prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress to a Republican-controlled one by eight percentage points (47 percent to 39 percent), up from the Democrats’ three-point advantage last month (46 percent to 43 percent).

Yet what is perhaps even more worrisome for the GOP is the “boomerang” effect: As the party has used the shutdown and fiscal fight to campaign against the nation’s health-care law and for limited government, the poll shows those efforts have backfired.

The only name history will remember as shutting down our Government will be our first half black President Barack H. Obama. There will be a long list of failures listed under his name in the history books.

Hey, where's Biden?

For days now RealJustme has been wandering around here in a daze mumbling "Where's Biden?"

This reflects the mental state of the Right since none of the tricks they have relied on for the past 25 years are working anymore and they are disoriented and confused.
The sad part is that since W. Bush turned the government over to his Vice President, the GOP has come to believe the VP is supposed to be running things.

When will these clowns learn that the VP essentially has nothing to do if he's not presiding over the Senate.
But it is disturbing that they are now seeking to have a Vice President stick his nose into everything unnecessarily when they pretend to abhor bigger government.
More hypocrisy from the Right? Yup, par for their course.

Even the liberal AP puts Obama's approval at a horrible 37 percent.

Last time the GOP was blamed for a shutdown, they did quite well subsequently.

The Left, and their minions in the media, are merely hoping and praying for Obama and his agenda.

As it becomes clear that Obama is merely looking to maximize the pain for Americans, including veterans, don't count on approval for Saint Barry of Obama to even remain at 37 percent.

Oh, please.

NBC has pretty much ceased to be much more than an extension of the White House spin operation.

As to polls, the next one will be November 2014.
