Al-Qaeda rebels kill up to 1,300 in WMD attack

Many of those killed were women and children, they slaughtered the civilians in an attempt to make it look like Assad did it to desperate attempt to drag the West/NATO into a war on the side of Al-Qaeda backed rebels. It demonstrates just what scums bags these rebels (same as many Morsi supporters) really are.
(Reuters) - Syria's opposition accused President Bashar al-Assad's forces of gassing many hundreds of people - by one report as many as 1,300 - on Wednesday in what would, if confirmed, be the world's worst chemical weapons attack in decades. The Syrian government denied that it had used chemical arms. Noting the "criminal act" took place as the U.N. team got to work, the spokesman said: "This cannot but suggest that once again we are dealing with a pre-planned provocation by the Al-Qaeda backed rebels ... We call on all those who can influence the armed extremists make every effort to end provocations with chemical agents."

The timing of the allegations - just three days after the U.N. experts checked in to a Damascus hotel a few kilometers to the east at the start of their mission - was surprising.

"It would be very peculiar if it was the government to do this at the exact moment the international inspectors come into the country," said Rolf Ekeus, a retired Swedish diplomat who headed a team of UN weapons inspectors in Iraq in the 1990s.

The UN personnel were still getting their blue outfits pressed at the hotel laundry.

And checking the all-you-can-eat buffet.

The UN is actually preventing it's self from investigating...they say it's not safe, so the UN investigators are hanging out in their 4 star hotel until it's safe to investigate any possible crimes. In the mean time US tax payers are picking their bill. Not to mention the UN held a special meeting to discuss the WMD attack and Obama's hand picked UN Ambassador didn't show up, turns out she didn't want to interrupt her vacation...after all she's already been on the job for 3 weeks.
United Nations Ambassador Samantha Powers has missed her first emergency security council meeting because she was on vacation less than a month after being sworn into office and didn't interrupt her vacation to attend.

Ms Powers, who became the United State's representative to the U.N. on August 1, is on a personal trip and was unable to make the meeting on Wednesday following the alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria.
'Ambassador Power is on a planned personal trip,' National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan.
3 Weeks on the job and on vacation during a major world crisis.

I take it back the UN team is staying in a five-star hotel not a lowly 4-start hotel. Plus our
U.S. ambassador to the U.N is still on vacation and has missed two more emergency UN meetings, she is going into her 4th week on the job. Some within the U.N. feel keeping her away from the U.N. meetings during this critical time is Obama's way of avoiding making tough decision that have to be made.
The 20-member strong U.N. delegation, led by Swedish chemical weapons expert Ake Sellstrom, traveled to the Syrian capital Saturday by car from Beirut. After arriving at a five-star hotel in central Damascus, plainclothes policemen immediately whisked them away from the crush of reporters and cameraman waiting in the lobby. The delegation has remained at the hotel for over 2 weeks saying that it's not safe for them to travel out for inspections at this time.

That lady Obama selected is a lunatic anyhow.

U.S. interests are doubtless better protected if she remains on vacation.

I was never a Bolton fan, but that gal is nuts.

But all Obama needs to do is huddle with Biden, Hillary, Cheney, Bob Casey, and the other cheerleaders and draw upon their total military experience (zero).

I listened to her acceptance speech and I'm very impressed with her...at least she's not beating war drums like Bolton, I like her.

You need to listen to more than just her acceptance speech..sure she's not beating the war drums but wants the US to arm countries she says are fighting against genocide ! She also wants the US to apologize to Germany for WWII, apologize for slavery, and apologize as she puts it, "for all our past sins"........I could go on and on. Forbes is right she nuts!

She's not a real american, does not love this country,(maybe that's why Obama likes her), born in Ireland she runs back there every chance she gets, that's where she was on vacation when she should have been working!

Actually she is an American and she's devoted her life to this Country. Concerning her taking a vacation...don't tell me you've never taken one, even our public servants deserve times off. Plus she's never really off duty, she's always working and available. Instead of sending negative vipes her way, you should thank her for her service.

The notion of thanking some civilian in a cushy job, who is only serving him/herself, is preposterous.

As to attacking Syria, Bush Jr. was dubbed a hubristic cowboy for assembling a coalition and invading Iraq. Obama has no coalition -- not even the UK.

Listen to Biden:

Did I miss something? When did Obama order an attack on Syria?

Obama may have been shamed out of doing it.

But he sure wants to, and so does Pelosi.

Biden, who threatened to impeach Bush Jr if he invaded Iraq without congressional approval, is now singing a different song.

That's the same Biden who got 5 deferments to dodge Vietnam (as Cheney did).

There is no justification to lose American Lives in pursuit of the illusion that Syrians want to solve their problems to become a peace loving Country friendly to the United States. Syrian factions are baiting America into a conflict they will not thank us for, nor will they "love" us after we shed blood helping them achieve their goals. After all is done they will declare us as their number one enemy and they "will" kill Americans every opportunity they get.

It's that simple. Fuckem.

Despite what you've heard on Fox, Obama is not talking about invading Syria. He's not talking about putting blessed troops in Syria. He's talking about lobbing some cruise missiles in there. I know Fox doesn't understand and is unable to make the distinction, but in the real world, it's a HUGE distinction.

A huge difference for the US, but on the receiving end of an air attack it is no difference.

A pinprick attack won't dislodge Assad, and really won't do a thing except what Obama himself said in 2007 -- encourage future terrorism.

As to those killed in the Malathion attack, or whatever it was, there are 12 million illegal immigrants in America and their associated crime is far, far more of a security threat.

That's an act of war no matter how you try and spin it. Think about it, every war in recent history has been started with lobbing missles that accomplished nothing but escalated violence. It's not in our interests to weakened Sryia's military so we shouldn't be doing it.

If we weaken Assad's military we are helping Islamic extremist obtain Syria's WMD and we all know they will use them and they will use them against our interests. If anything Obama should be arming Assad's military and making nice with him.

We are watching amateur hour in the White House and we already see the consequences.

It's surreal to see johnforbes and RealJustme now supporting the use of chemical weapons of mass destruction in Syria and calling for our support of the guy who used them.

Don't these clowns remember that that was the very reason they supported taking out Saddam?
Neither of them called on Bush to support Saddam at the time.
No, they were screaming for Saddam's head on a spike instead.

The tragic part is, if Obama doesn't hit Assad, the same hypocritical clowns will be here bitching about how Obama let Assad get away with the unforgivable war crime of using chemical weapons against his own people and claiming it's proof that Obama is the worst President of all time.

But it isn't clear what was used.

If indeed Malathion, that's a pesticide which only does mass destruction of insects.

And, of course, it goes without saying that not striking Syria is something very different from approving WMD.

Doesn't Clownhicker remember that not everybody supported the invasion of Iraq?

Doesn't young Mr. Clownhick know that some of us said that every invasion should be preceded by:

1) A clear need. This should be pressing, real, and something almost all Americans agree on, such as Pearl Harbor.

2) A national goal of victory. Not just going in and hanging around, as in Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

3) A clear definition of victory. Not just gauzy, pretty words such as "Increasing Democracy."
