Moving with striking speed and overwhelming bipartisanship, Congress on Friday ordered President Obama to cancel the furloughs of air traffic controllers, making the second big dent in the budget sequesters.

Congress approved a bill ordering the Transportation Department to move money to the Federal Aviation Administration in order to put air traffic controllers back on the job — and requiring Mr. Obama’s team to make cuts elsewhere in the department.


“I think we all agree the FAA and the administration has handled the sequester poorly,” said Rep. Tom Latham, Iowa Republican. “The administration has played shameful politics with sequestration at the expense of hardworking families.”

The bill passed the House 361-41, and the Senate had already pre-approved the bill unanimously late Thursday night.

It now goes to Mr. Obama, who signaled he will sign it — though the White House was not happy about it.

Why did the Republicans demand additional government spending and more government intrusion by overriding the bill they wrote?

This runs contrary to conservative demands to slash spending and reducing government interference in private affairs.

I hope Justme has contacted his congressional representatives to demand that they undo the undo.

I understand. Republican lawmakers (congress writes the bill, the president doesn't) crafted the "sequester" to force spending cuts and reduce government intrusion. Now, when faced with angry constituents who suffer the brunt of some of these cuts, the GOP-controlled House cut and ran from the responsibility of what they had done faster than Ronald Reagan cut and ran from Lebanon.

It's time for Tea Partiers to arise and replace all those RINOs with Real Conservatives. Real Conservatives who will end the federal government once and for all. They don't need no stinkin' government (except for the one that sends them their entitlement checks every month).

Obama crafted the "sequester" and in this case Democrats in both the House and the Senate voted in over whelming numbers ordering Obama to stop his political stunt since it's endangering Americans. Can you lame duck?
