Conservatism doesn't always lose. The problem with Conservatism is that it's more tolerant than Liberalism, it allows Liberalism to grow and destroy every society, and then, when failed, Conservatism renews itself in the ashes of Liberalism, and because people are generally stupid, allows Liberalism to grow again - rinse, repeat.

Just like the deregulation of the financial system. Fuck the rules, let the free market system work it's wonder.

Banks crash the system, tax payer bailout, conservatives resist regulation to stabilize the system, banks crash the system again, rinse wash and repeat...

The problem with the outright bold faced lie "Let the free market work" is that corporatist have no interest and do everything possible to undermine the free market. Free market capitalism requires good honest regulation to insure free markets with equal power among all sellers and all purchasers, with the free complete flow of honest accurate information. Environmental and safety regulations only insure that the full social cost of manufacturing and selling are represented in the product prices. The usual arguments for "unrestricted capitalism" are not for free market capitalism, they are markets managed by a few elite corporatists. Really not much different than the realities of soviet communism and completely within the principles of fascism.

The intolerant liar and bigot liar leroy talks about conservatism being tolerant, just another delusional lie from liar leroy. What can one say? Noting that will ever get a bigoted racist like liar leroy to understand the reality of the world let alone something as compl4ex as politics and statesmanship. It is a consistent historical truth that racists and bigots like liar leroy never see their own essential racism and autocracy. It is one of the fundamental natures of conservatism.
